The Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Amir Sadollah is likely to return to competition at UFC 114. The charismatic welterweight has verbally agreed to face undefeated Korean standout Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim on the May 29th card. MMAWeekly.com first reported on the bout earlier today.
Sadollah has won two fights in a row and most recently bested “Bad” Brad Blackburn at UFC Fight Night 20 in January. Kim was originally set to battle Chris “Lights Out” Lytle at UFC 110 in Australia, but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.

Capped off by a shocking upset in the main event, GCM’s all-female Valkyrie promotion put on an excellent event tonight at “Valkyrie 4.” Rising star Mei “V Hajime” Yamaguchi captured the Valkyrie Featherweight Championship with a first-round submission of Yuka “Vale Tudo Queen” Tsuji in one of the biggest upsets in women’s MMA history.
Perhaps fittingly, the bout’s unbelievable result comes on the 20th anniversary of the infamous knockout of “Iron” Mike Tyson by James “Buster” Douglas in a boxing match in 1990.

After dropping back-to-back fights in his promotional return, former two-time title challenger Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg is the latest name to be cut from the UFC. MMAjunkie.com first reported on Trigg’s dismissal, which follows earlier reports that Mark Coleman, Tim Hague and Phillipe Nover had all been terminated from the UFC after losses at UFC 109.
Trigg returned to the Octagon at UFC 103 after a four-year absence, but suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of Josh Koscheck. He met a similar fate against Matt “The Terror” Serra this past Saturday.

Following losses at UFC 109 on Saturday, UFC Hall of Famer Mark “The Hammer” Coleman, heavyweight Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague and highly-touted lightweight Phillipe Nover have all been cut from the UFC. FiveOuncesOfPain.com was first to report on Coleman’s termination and further roster cuts are possible.
Coleman appeared slow and lethargic in his main event bout with fellow UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture and was choked out in the first round. Both Hague and Nover were on the wrong end of judges’ decisions.

Middleweight fan favourites “Filthy” Tom Lawlor and “Crazy” Tim Credeur have verbally agreed to square off at UFC 113 in Montreal. The planned May 8th bout was first reported on The Underground MMA forum today and has since been confirmed by multiple sources.
The highly charismatic Lawlor is coming off of a controversial Split Decision loss to the unbeaten Aaron “A-Train” Simpson at UFC Fight Night 20. Credeur last competed at UFC Fight Night 19 and was defeated by Nate “Rock” Quarry in an incredible back-and-forth battle.

After suffering an undisclosed injury during training, welterweight contender Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann has withdrawn from the upcoming UFC 111 card. In his place, rising star Jake Ellenberger will step in to face top prospect Ben “Killa B” Saunders. MMAjunkie.com first reported on the bout’s change earlier today.
Ellenberger stopped tough challenger Mike “Quicksand” Pyle in impressive fashion at UFC 108, while Saunders most recently picked up a brutal knockout win over “The Irish Hand Grenade” Marcus Davis at UFC 106.

Former PRIDE and Sengoku star Hidehiko Yoshida will retire on April 25th. J-Rock entertainment announced today that the Japanese legend will compete in mixed martial arts for the final time in the headlining bout at an event known as “Astra.” Yoshida’s opponent has not yet been named.
The 40-year-old Yoshida cited a deterioration in his physical capabilities and apologised to the fans for no longer being able to compete at his best. The seven-year veteran planned to retire on New Year’s Eve, but will compete one more time at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.

Former EliteXC Featherweight Champion Wilson Reis will return to Bellator Fighting Championships for its upcoming second season. The highly-touted prospect came up just short in the inaugural Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix last year and he will look for revenge in season two.
Reis was pegged as the early favourite to win last year’s tournament, but he was upset by Joe Soto in the semi-finals at Bellator 6. He has since rebounded with a pair of victories and has withdrawn from a scheduled appearance for Sengoku in order to return to Bellator in April.
