Wilson Reis Returns For Bellator's Second SeasonFormer EliteXC Featherweight Champion Wilson Reis will return to Bellator Fighting Championships for its upcoming second season. The highly-touted prospect came up just short in the inaugural Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix last year and he will look for revenge in season two.

Reis was pegged as the early favourite to win last year’s tournament, but he was upset by Joe Soto in the semi-finals at Bellator 6. He has since rebounded with a pair of victories and has withdrawn from a scheduled appearance for Sengoku in order to return to Bellator in April.

Reis (9-1-0) captured the EliteXC Featherweight Championship with a five-round decision over King of the Cage champ Abel Cullum at a ShoXC event in September 2008. However, EliteXC closed its doors soon after and Reis was left without a promotion to compete for until Bellator began its first season of tournament-based events last April. He entered the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix and defeated Henry Martinez in the opening round.

Despite the upset loss to Soto one month later, Reis was not deterred and he returned at Bellator 10 with a razor-thin decision win over Roberto Vargas. Reis most recently competed in the debut Locked In The Cage event in Philadelphia and was expected to return to the promotion, but will now set his sights back on Bellator in hopes of redeeming himself. Reis will be part of this season’s Featherweight tournament.

The second season of Bellator Fighting Championships kicks off on April 8th.
