The Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Amir Sadollah is likely to return to competition at UFC 114. The charismatic welterweight has verbally agreed to face undefeated Korean standout Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim on the May 29th card. MMAWeekly.com first reported on the bout earlier today.
Sadollah has won two fights in a row and most recently bested “Bad” Brad Blackburn at UFC Fight Night 20 in January. Kim was originally set to battle Chris “Lights Out” Lytle at UFC 110 in Australia, but was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.
Sadollah (3-1-0) debuted in mixed martial arts as part of the cast of TUF 7 and surprised many by winning the show. His professional debut was watched by millions of fans when he submitted CB “The Doberman” Dollaway for the second time in the season’s finale. However, he was sidelined for over a year due to injuries and was stopped in just 29 seconds by Johny Hendricks at UFC 101. Sadollah has since battled back strong and will be looking to pick up his third straight win.
Kim (12-0-1, 1 ND) entered the UFC after a successful tenure in the DEEP promotion in Japan. He knocked out Jason Tan in the third round of their UFC 84 meeting and later decisioned Matt “The Immortal” Brown at UFC 88. Kim faced former top contender Karo “The Heat” Parisyan at UFC 94 and was very controversially defeated via Split Decision, but the bout’s outcome was later overturned when Parisyan tested positive for painkillers. Kim most recently defeated Canadian TJ Grant at UFC 100.
UFC 114 takes place on May 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight grudge match between former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Sugar” Rashad Evans.
