Bantamweight Queen of Pancrase Rin Nakai made a successful return to the flyweight division with a third-round TKO victory tonight at Pancrase 279 in Tokyo, Japan. Nakai, who was competing at 125 pounds for the first time since 2008, stopped former boxing champion Emiko “Fujin” Raika.
Tonight’s matchup was contested primarily on the ground and Nakai held a clear edge. She mounted Raika midway through round three and dropped elbows for the stoppage. In strawweight action, Krush women’s kickboxing champ Syuri Kondo stayed unbeaten by defeating Nicolle Angelica Caliari.

Shoot Boxing Women’s Flyweight Champion Rena Kubota successfully retained her title with a dominant third-round stoppage victory tonight during the 2016 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Kubota finished Polish challenger Klaudia Pawicka with a series of knees in the 51kg main event.
In tonight’s co-feature, Kubota’s teammate and protégé, Mio Tsumura, achieved her dream of becoming a Girls S-Cup tournament world champion. Tsumura edged out Akari “Union” Nakamura in the Girls S-Cup final. In an MMA bout, Kanako Murata stayed unbeaten by stopping Ilona Wijmans.

Former Jewels champion Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama captured another title on Sunday afternoon at Deep Jewels 12 in Tokyo, Japan. Sugiyama edged out Emi Tomimatsu in the three-round main event to become Deep Jewels Atomweight Champion in front of a capacity crowd at Shinjuku FACE.
Sunday’s win capped off a run of redemption for Sugiyama, who struggled after losing her Jewels Featherweight Queen Championship in 2013. Also at Deep Jewels 12, Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka earned a first-round finish in the co-main event, and 17-year-old Nori Date upset Yuko “Amiba” Oya.

Krush women’s kickboxing champion Syuri Kondo began her MMA career with a close and competitive decision victory tonight at Pancrase 277 in Tokyo, Japan. Kondo edged out previously undefeated teen prospect Kanna Asakura in a featured strawweight showdown on tonight’s main card.
The talented fighters spent the majority of the bout battling for takedowns and trading strikes in clinches against the cage. Kondo managed to secure a tight rear-naked choke in the dying stages of round three, which proved to be just enough to seal a razor-thin decision victory on the scorecards.
