While first hoped to be returning to mixed martial arts in May for Freestyle Cage Fighting, female bantamweight star Amanda Buckner will remained sidelined until this Fall as she continues her recovery after successful ACL surgery. Buckner confirmed the update with MMARising.com on Friday.
A tentative plan had been in place for Buckner to make her long-awaited return at FCF 42 on May 22nd in New Hampshire after a two-year absence from the sport. However, she will not be cleared to compete in time and aims to be a part of an October card for the promotion.

Insurance and liability issues continue to create havoc for the city of Vancouver, British Columbia and it appears that a planned UFC event in June will no longer take place in the city. The Canadian Press reported earlier today that UFC 115, tentatively set for June 12th in Vancouver, is likely off and will be moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Vancouver City Council passed a two-year trial period last December, but maintained concerns over liability issues in the event of an injury. As a result, it now appears that MMA’s return to Vancouver will be delayed.

The second round of the Freestyle Cage Fighting Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix took place last night at FCF 40 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In a pair of competitive three-round decisions, Shayna “The Queen of Spades” Baszler and Jan “Cuddles” Finney were both victorious.
Baszler, already a veteran of both EliteXC and Strikeforce, will now move on to face Finney in the tournament finals at FCF 43 on June 12th. The winner of the June bout will receive a guaranteed contract with Strikeforce and could potentially challenge for a major title soon after.
