An untimely hand injury has forced former UFC light heavyweight champ Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort out of a planned rematch with fellow TUF Brasil coach Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva at UFC 147 on June 23rd. Silva will instead face another former foe, Rich “Ace” Franklin, in the main event.
The bout between Franklin and Silva will be contested at a catchweight of 190 pounds and is the latest in a series of changes to the card, which takes place in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The event also features a heavyweight battle between Fabricio Werdum and Mike Russow.

Two of the top submission specialists in the women’s bantamweight division will face off at Invicta Fighting Championships 2 on July 28th in Kansas City, Kansas. Raging Wolf champ Alexis Davis battles ex-Smackgirl titleholder Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano in the night’s 135-pound co-main event.
The Davis-Akano bout, along with the remainder of the 13-fight card, was officially announced today. Davis has won four of her past six fights and is the fourth Canadian fighter to join the Invicta FC 2 card. Akano has finished 14 opponents to date and looks to rebound from a decision loss in January.

Former Strikeforce title challenger Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche looks for her second straight win when she faces 2007 HOOKnSHOOT champ Kaitlin Young at Invicta Fighting Championships 2 on July 28th in Kansas City, Kansas. The featured bantamweight matchup was announced today.
Carmouche and Young made their Invicta FC debuts at the promotion’s inaugural event in April. Carmouche earned a dominant first-round TKO victory over local fighter Ashleigh Curry, while Young engaged in a spirited back-and-forth war with Leslie Smith that ultimately ended in a Split Draw.

“How do you eat an elephant?” “One bite at a time.” Friday was my last hard day of training for my CWFC 47 fight with Aisling Daly. It started out with my last strength and conditioning session down at S&P gym. Power endurance intervals, 35 seconds all-out work and 10 seconds of rest for ten sets. Twice.
I waited for Sean to tell me that he was joking, but as it turned out, he wasn’t. We’ve been building up to this for months now, starting from just 10 seconds of work and 50 seconds of rest back at the beginning of the fight camp. In theory, I should be able to nail this…
