Elsewhere on Saturday, flyweight knockout artist Alexa Grasso claimed the inaugural Xtreme Kombat women’s 125-pound title at Xtreme Kombat 20 in Cuautitlan Izcalli, Mexico. Grasso defeated Alejandra Alvarez and Karina Rodriguez in succession to win a one-night, four-woman title tournament.

Competing in front of hometown fans, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis picked up his fourth straight win on August 31st at UFC 164: “Henderson vs Pettis 2” in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pettis defeated ex-WEC rival “Smooth” Benson Henderson for a second time to become the UFC Lightweight Champion.
Also on the UFC 164 card, Josh “The Warmaster” Barnett moved closer to the top five in the heavyweight rankings by defeating Frank Mir. In women’s action in August, Deep Jewels staged its inaugural all-female event and Faith Van Duin became Storm MMA Women’s Featherweight Champion.

Former Jewels title challenger Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino survived early scares and emerged victorious in the Deep Jewels 1 main event tonight at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. Fujino used a rear-naked choke to defeat South Korean challenger Hyo Kyung Song in the late stages of round two.
Fujino’s one-time Jewels foe, Mika “Future Princess” Nagano, picked up her fourth straight victory on tonight’s card when she submitted Akiko “Betiko” Naito. Both Fujino and Nagano will compete in the Deep Jewels lightweight title tournament, which is set to begin at Deep Jewels 2 on November 4th.

Hometown star Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton looks for her first UFC win when she returns to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 30: “Bisping vs Munoz” on October 26th in Manchester, England. Sexton will face off against Brazil’s Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade in a bantamweight bout on the card.

Georgia native Tyra “The Honey Badger” Parker evened her pro MMA record with an impressive win tonight at Dakota FC 16: “Fall Brawl 2013” in Fargo, North Dakota. Parker submitted Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez with a slick armbar early in the second round of their featured flyweight matchup.
Tonight’s bout marked only the second time that Parker had seen round two in her pro MMA career. She picked up right where she left off following a dominant opening five minutes and got the one-sided fight back down to the mat early in the second round, where she locked on the fight-ending armbar.
