Former Strikeforce champion Marloes “Rumina” Coenen makes her return to the cage on August 28th at Bellator 141 in Temecula, California. Coenen is expected to face off against Australian standout Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe in a featured featherweight matchup on the event’s televised main card.

Combat Press first reported on the planned bout on Friday. Coenen made a successful Bellator debut in October when she submitted Annalisa “No Fear” Bucci at Bellator 130. Blencowe also kicked off her Bellator career with a win when she stopped Adrienna “A.J.” Jenkins at Bellator 137 in May.

WPMF Japan Women’s Pinweight Champion Saya Ito made a successful defence of her title on Sunday at The Battle of Muay Thai 9 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. The 16-year-old “Muay Thai Genius” earned a clear-cut Unanimous Decision victory over challenger Yoshimi “443” Hatayama.

Ito shut down Hatayama’s offence with effective clinch work throughout the five-round title fight and she extended her winning streak to seven with the victory. The talented teen has set her sights on a securing a matchup with WPMF and WMC Women’s Pinweight World Champion Little Tiger.

Top Brazilian prospect Kinberly Novaes makes her RFA debut in a featured strawweight matchup on August 21st at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 29: “USA vs Brazil” in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Novaes battles RFA standout Jocelyn “Lights Out” Jones-Lybarger on the AXS TV-televised main card.

Novaes returned to action in May following a lengthy hiatus from competition and she captured the Noxii Combat women’s strawweight title by defeating Renata “Wand” Baldan. Jones-Lybarger is 3-0 inside the RFA cage, and she most recently defeated Maria Rios at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 23.

Former Deep Jewels Lightweight Champion Emi Tomimatsu is set to make her return to action on August 29th at Deep Jewels 9 in Tokyo, Japan. The well-rounded veteran will face off against fellow atomweight contender Tomo Maesawa on the card, which is headlined by a pair of title fights.

Tomimatsu is coming off of a Split Decision loss to rising star Mina Kurobe in her atomweight debut at Deep Jewels 7. Maesawa’s two-fight winning streak was snapped by Deep Jewels Featherweight Grand Prix finalist Satomi “Sarami” Takano, who edged out Maesawa at Deep Jewels 8.

Competing in front of hometown fans and supporters, Scottish star Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood picked up a thrilling victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 72: “Bisping vs Leites” in Glasgow, Scotland. Calderwood defeated Cortney “Cast Iron” Casey-Sanchez, who took the fight on just ten days’ notice.

Casey nearly finished Calderwood with strikes on the feet in the opening seconds, but Calderwood regained her composure and she took control of the fight in the later rounds. She dropped Casey with a spinning back kick to the liver in round three and walked away with a Unanimous Decision win.
