An undisclosed injury has forced unbeaten strawweight Alexa Grasso out of her bout at Invicta Fighting Championships 14 on September 12th in Kansas City, Missouri. Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger now battles Pannie “Banzai” Kianzad in the night’s new main event.

Grasso was originally slated to challenge Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Livia Renata “Livinha” Souza in the Invicta FC 14 headliner, but has now been sidelined due to injury. In the Invicta FC 14 co-feature, Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpää takes on DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett.

Evinger (17-5-0) capped off her career resurgence with her biggest win to date on July 9th when she stopped Irene Aldana to become the new Invicta FC bantamweight titleholder at Invicta FC 13. She has won seven straight fights and is a perfect 4-0 inside the Invicta FC cage. Her opponent next month, Cage Warriors champion Kianzad (8-0-0), opened her Invicta FC career with a well-deserved Unanimous Decision victory over Jessica-Rose “Jessy Jess” Clark on the same Invicta FC 13 card. The 23-year-old is one of the bantamweight division’s brightest prospects.

Kankaanpää (10-2-1) captured the vacant Invicta FC strawweight title in September when she rallied to submit Stephanie “Snowflake” Eggink with a fifth-round Brabo choke. Her title reign was short-lived, however, and she was submitted by Souza in the main event of Invicta FC 12 in April. Bennett (7-0-0) began her career with six straight wins as a flyweight, including a key victory over TUF 18 winner Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña, and she made a successful strawweight debut in February by outpointing Norma Rueda Center at Invicta FC 11.

In other featured action at Invicta FC 14, veteran Roxanne “The Happy Warrior” Modafferi (17-12-0) squares off against 20-year-old Brazilian finisher Mariana Morais (9-2-0) at 125 pounds. Modafferi has turned her career around since moving back to the United States, and she has won two of her three Invicta FC bouts. Morais has knocked out or submitted eight of her opponents to date, and the flyweight rising star most recently picked up a second-round submission victory in December.

Also in the flyweight division, Rachael Ostovich (2-1-0) takes on fellow prospect Andrea “KGB” Lee (2-1-0). Ostovich has bounced back from a disappointing loss in her pro debut with back-to-back victories including a decision win in her Invicta FC debut in December. Lee appeared to be on the fast track to a title shot after a solid showing in her Invicta FC debut, but she was edged out by Modafferi in a competitive bout at Invicta FC 10. She now looks to get back in contention with a win next month.

Following a disastrous debut in December, featherweight judoka Cindy “Battlecat” Dandois (5-2-0) seeks redemption when she welcomes Australian standout Megan Anderson (4-1-0) to the Invicta FC cage. Dandois returned to action at Invicta FC 10 following a layoff of more than three and a half years. She was dominated on the feet and on the ground, and ultimately succumbed to a second-round armbar from future champion Evinger. Anderson has racked up four straight victories in impressive fashion, and she avenged her lone career setback by submitting Zoie Shreiweis in December.

Elsewhere on the card, strawweight prospects Jamie Moyle (3-0-0) and Sharon “The Dream Catcher” Jacobson (3-1-0) clash in one of Invicta FC 14’s most intriguing bouts. Moyle is one of the fastest rising stars on the roster and she has won all three of her Invicta FC bouts to date, including a well-deserved Split Decision victory over Amy “The Resurrection” Cadwell Montenegro at Invicta FC 13. Jacobson, a highly-skilled wrestler, ran her winning streak to three by defeating Sugar Creek Showdown champion Delaney “Lil’ Scrappy” Owen at Invicta FC 12.

Atomweights Jinh Yu Frey (3-1-0) and “Lightning” Liz McCarthy (2-2-0) meet in another solid matchup on the preliminary card. Frey got back on the winning track following a contentious Split Decision loss in September by submitting Cassie “The Hulk” Robb at Invicta FC 10. McCarthy also rebounded from a controversial loss to common opponent Jodie Esquibel by defeating Robb in May 2014, but her Invicta FC return was spoiled by top contender Amber “The Bully” Brown, who edged out McCarthy via Split Decision on the Invicta FC 9 card.

Rounding out the action, J.J. Aldrich (1-1-0) faces Daniela Kortmann (1-0-0) in a strawweight showdown, Aspen Ladd (1-0-0) battles fellow unbeaten prospect Amanda Bobby “ABC” Cooper (1-0-0) at flyweight, and Rachel Wiley (0-0-0) meets Felicia Spencer (0-0-0) in a bout between lightweight pro debutants.

Invicta Fighting Championships 14 takes place on September 12th at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The event streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
