Former Jewels champ Ayaka Hamasaki became the first Japanese female fighter to capture a major international MMA title on July 9th at Invicta Fighting Championships 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hamasaki defeated Hérica Tibúrcio to become the new Invicta FC Atomweight Champion.
Other key winners at Invicta FC 13 included featherweight ace Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and newly-crowned bantamweight titleholder Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger. In UFC action, bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha earned big wins at UFC 190.
