Following a break for the summer, Deep Jewels is set to return with its next fight card on September 11th at New Pier Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Deep Jewels 38 will be headlined by an atomweight contender’s rematch between unbeaten rising star Aya Murakami and recent title challenger Moeri Suda.
The bout was one of ten fights announced for the card today. Murakami and Suda first faced off at Deep Jewels 30 in October 2020, which Murakami won via Unanimous Decision. Also set for Deep Jewels 38 is a 49kg super atomweight bout between Yuko Kiryu and Namiko “Hime” Kawabata.

The opening round of the 2022 Rizin FF Women’s Super Atomweight Grand Prix is set to take place on July 31st at Rizin Fighting Federation 37 in Saitama, Japan. All four quarterfinal matchups in the 49kg tournament were officially announced for the event during a press conference earlier today.
In the featured quarterfinal, Rizin FF Women’s Super Atomweight Champion Seika Izawa takes on PAW FC 115-pound titleholder Maria Laura Alves Fontoura in a battle between undefeated fighters. Izawa captured her Rizin FF title in April, while Fontoura earned her belt at PAW FC 1 in January.

Two-division Deep and Deep Jewels champion Saori Oshima will make her second Rizin FF appearance on July 2nd at Rizin Fighting Federation 36 in Okinawa, Japan. Oshima is set to face former Rizin title challenger Miyuu Yamamoto in one of two women’s super atomweight bouts on the card.
Oshima is coming off of a successful atomweight title defence this past month at Deep Jewels 37, while Yamamoto looks to rebound from her loss to Rena Kubota at Rizin FF 32. Also on next month’s card, Mizuki “Nisse” Oshiro takes on 17-year-old Deep Jewels title contender Moeri Suda.

Rin Nakai continued her career resurgence with two victories in one day at Deep Jewels 37 today in Tokyo, Japan. Competing at the famed Korakuen Hall, Nakai defeated Tae “Te-a” Murayama and Shizuka Sugiyama in grand prix bouts to become the inaugural Deep Jewels Flyweight Champion.
Today’s Deep Jewels 37 card featured two additional title fights. Atomweight champion Saori Oshima made a successful defence against 17-year-old Moeri Suda, and Yoko Higashi became the first Deep Jewels Featherweight Champion by defeating “King” Reina Miura in their championship rematch.

Deep Jewels made its return to the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday afternoon for Deep Jewels 37, which featured three championship fights. The event was headlined by the finals of the promotion’s flyweight grand prix, which crowned the inaugural Deep Jewels Flyweight Champion.

Deep Jewels Strawweight Champion Seika Izawa stayed unbeaten and also added a second title to her collection tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 35 in Chofu, Tokyo, Japan. Izawa defeated Ayaka Hamasaki once again in a rematch to become Rizin FF Women’s Super Atomweight Champion.
While tonight’s victory was not as dominant as in December, when Izawa stopped Hamasaki in the second round of their non-title bout at Rizin FF 33, it was nevertheless an excellent performance from the fast-rising star. Izawa discussed future plans and potential opponents following her win tonight.

Former two-time Rizin FF title challenger Kanna Asakura got back on track with a much-needed victory tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 35 in Chofu, Tokyo, Japan. Asakura took a hard-fought Unanimous Decision over Shooto champion Satomi “Sarami” Takano in a 49kg super atomweight bout.
Asakura, who was coming off of back-to-back Split Decision defeats in 2021, used her wrestling skills to take Takano down multiple times tonight. Takano was active off of her back with submission attempts, but Asakura’s top control and ground and pound were enough to earn her a close win.

Deep Jewels officials announced the championship fight today. Both fighters competed two weeks ago at Deep Jewels 36, with very different outcomes. Oshima suffered a decision loss to Namiko “Hime” Kawabata in a non-title 49kg bout, while Suda quickly finished former title challenger Hikaru Aono.
