Two of the top strawweights on the Deep Jewels roster will compete for the promotion’s interim 115-pound title on November 23rd at Deep Jewels 43 in Tokyo, Japan. Arisa Matsuda and Machi Fukuda, who faced each other as amateur fighters in December 2021, will rematch for the championship.
The interim title bout was one of 12 fights that were officially announced for the card today. In the 49kg co-main event, highly-touted teen prospect Moeri Suda squares off against Saki Kitamura. Both fighters are coming off of victories this past month during the 10th anniversary Deep Jewels 42 event.

The lineup is now complete for the inaugural four-woman Atomweight Queen of Pancrase title tournament, which begins on December 24th at Pancrase 340 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Former Valkyrie and Deep Jewels champ “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi was announced as the final participant today.
Yamaguchi has been competing professionally in MMA for more than 16 years, and she is one of Japan’s most accomplished female fighters in the sport’s history. In 2011, Yamaguchi was a part of Pancrase’s first female main event, and she now makes her return in hopes of winning another title.

UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso retained her title with a razor-thin Split Draw on September 16th in the UFC Fight Night 227 main event. Grasso remains ranked at the top of her division following the Draw, which came against former champion Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko.
Also in September, Sean “Tarzan” Strickland shocked the MMA world by taking a Unanimous Decision victory over Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya in the UFC 293 headliner. The dominant win earned Strickland the UFC Middleweight Championship and the #2 ranking at 185 pounds.

Undefeated strawweight prospect Machi Fukuda made a successful debut for Rizin Fighting Federation tonight at Rizin FF: “Landmark Vol. 6” in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Fukuda narrowly edged out Shooto Women’s Super Atomweight Champion Ayaka Watanabe via a hard-fought Split Decision.
Fukuda countered Watanabe’s striking with clinches and takedowns during the first two rounds. The final five minutes saw both fighters have success on the feet, though Watanabe’s punches late in the fight seemed to be the most impactful. Nevertheless, it was Fukuda who won the close decision.
