North American Allied Fight Series standout Jessica “Evil” Eye is expected to make her Ring of Combat debut against fellow prospect Justine Kish at ROC 34 on February 4, 2011. The bout, which has not yet been officially announced, will reportedly be contested between 125 and 130 pounds.
Eye, who has thus far spent her entire career in NAAFS and has yet to taste defeat, decisioned Marissa “Shorty” Caldwell in the main event of the all-female “Eve of Destruction” card in September. Kish won her pro debut earlier this month by upsetting Munah Holland at Ring of Combat 33.

Two of the top prospects in the 125-pound women’s division will square off in the co-main event of Hoosier Fight Club 6 on January 14, 2011. Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak, who recently took part in the Ultimate Women Challenge competition, will face Bellator veteran Felice “Lil Bulldog” Herrig.
The featured bout will be Honchak’s first fight in just short of one year. She dropped a competitive decision to Ring of Fire champ Cat “Alpha” Zingano last January. Herrig, meanwhile, has won three straight fights and is coming off of a first-round submission of Amanda LaVoy earlier this month.

Voting is underway for the 2010 Women’s Mixed Martial Arts Awards and this year’s edition features over a dozen categories. Awards will recognise notable achievements made by fighters, promotions and other individuals associated with the sport over the course of the past twelve months.
Among this year’s new categories are awards for the top amateur female fighter, the biggest upset of 2010 and the most impactful sponsor company of the year. A full list of this year’s categories and nominees is available below and winners will be announced at the beginning of January.

Top UK promotion Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has finalised what is arguably the biggest women’s fight in its eight-year history. Cage Warriors champ Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton will face Roxanne “The Happy Warrior” Modafferi in a 125-pound bout at CWFC 40 on February 26, 2011.
MMARising.com first learned of the fight in early December and has since confirmed the matchup with multiple sources close to the negotiations. Both fighters have signed bout agreements. The fight will serve as Modafferi’s debut at 125 pounds, but will not be contested for Sexton’s CWFC title.

A light heavyweight bout between jiu-jitsu phenom Roger Gracie and South African veteran Trevor Prangley will be part of the televised main card at the upcoming Strikeforce event on January 29th. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the fight with a source close to the negotiations on Monday.
Gracie last competed in a dominant second-round submission victory over Kevin “The Monster” Randleman at Strikeforce: “Heavy Artillery” on May 15th and remains unbeaten in MMA. Prangley, meanwhile, has won six of his last eight fights including a win over former UFC contender Keith Jardine.

Long-time pound-for-pound queen Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii will look to rebound from the first defeat of her career when she faces Emi Fujino at Sengoku Raiden Championship: “Soul of Fight” on December 30th. Fujii most recently lost a controversial decision to Zoila Frausto in Bellator.
MMARising.com confirmed plans for the Fujii-Fujino matchup with a source close to the fight on Sunday and the promotion will officially announce the bout today. Fujino is coming off of a 24-second victory in late November at Valkyrie 8, which ended the first losing streak of her career.

MMARising.com reports live from Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan tonight for the finals of the 2010 Shooto Rookie Tournaments. The event was headlined by a non-tournament matchup between Hideki Kadowaki and Yusuke Yachi, and Junji “Sarumaru” Ito faced Atsushi Takeuchi in the co-feature.
In the tournament portion of the card, winners were crowned in six different Shooto weight classes, ranging from 52kg to 76kg (114 to 167 pounds). Top unbeaten prospects and rising stars collided to determine the future Shooto contenders. Live play-by-play for all of the fights is available below.

Unbeaten Megumi Fujii protégé Ayaka Hamasaki moved her record to 4-0 on Friday night with a pair of convincing decision victories to claim the Jewels Lightweight Queen Championship at 115 pounds. Hamasaki bested fellow prospect Sakura Nomura and talented striker Seo Hee Ham to win the title.
In the tournament semi-finals, Hamasaki displayed excellent striking and ground skills in handing Nomura, a standout from the Club Barbarian Impact gym, the first loss of her career. Hamasaki’s striking was again on display in the final, and a late submission rally sealed her victory on the scorecards.
