Kailin Curran Defeats Kaiyana Rain In PXC 36 Co-FeatureHawaii’s Kailin Curran made a successful pro debut with a key win tonight in Pacific Xtreme Combat’s first female fight in Mangilao, Guam. Curran earned a Unanimous Decision victory over Invicta FC veteran Kaiyana Rain in the historic PXC 36 co-main event, which was contested at 115 pounds.

Curran nearly finished Rain twice in the opening round, but Rain weathered the storm and worked for a series of submissions as the fight progressed. Ultimately, Curran’s striking and top control on the mat proved to be enough to earn her an impressive decision victory on all three judges’ scorecards.

The long-time pound-for-pound standout defends his 185-pound title against unbeaten challenger “All-American” Chris Weidman in the night’s main event.

Newsday.com first reported details of the fight today. Silva has won all 16 of his UFC fights and most recently stopped “The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar in an October bout at 205 pounds. Weidman earned key wins over Demian Maia and “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Mark Munoz in 2012.

Renan Barao vs Eddie Wineland Planned For UFC 161 Main EventUFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan “Barao” Pegado will make the next defence of his title against hard-hitting challenger Eddie Wineland in the main event of UFC 161 on June 15th in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The championship bout was announced today following a report from ESPN.

Barao is coming off of an impressive fourth-round submission victory over rising star Michael “Mayday” McDonald at UFC on Fuel TV 7. He has not lost since his pro debut close to eight years ago. Wineland won both of his fights in 2012 against top ten-ranked opponents to earn the interim title shot.

Kikuyo Ishikawa vs Miyoko Kusaka Rematch Booked For April 21Jewels contenders Kikuyo Ishikawa and Miyoko Kusaka are set to face off in a rematch at Pancrase: “Sakaguchi Dojo vs Pancrase” on April 21st in Okinawa, Japan. Pancrase officials announced plans for the atomweight matchup today. Ishikawa and Kusaka initially fought three years ago.

Kusaka prevailed in the pair’s first meeting, but Ishikawa has won six of her seven fights since then and is one of the fastest rising female prospects in Japan. Ishikawa won both of her fights in 2012. Kusaka looks to rebound from a loss in December by defeating the Okinawan for a second time.

Angelica Chavez Faces Stephanie Skinner At XFC 23 On April 19“South Valley’s Own” Angelica Chavez has an opponent for her upcoming fight at XFC 23: “Louisville Slugfest” on April 19th in Louisville, Kentucky. The New Mexico native is set to face Stephanie “The Scrapper” Skinner in a featured atomweight matchup. XFC officials announced the bout today.

Chavez and Skinner face off in one of two female fights on the April card. XFC is set to crown its first female strawweight champion when Stephanie “Snowflake” Eggink squares off against veteran opponent Angela Magana in the 115-pound co-feature. Both bouts will air on the televised main card.

Rua vs Nogueira 2, Henderson vs Evans Targeted For UFC 161The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to make its debut in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on June 15th. UFC 161 will take place at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre and features a light heavyweight rematch between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira.

Rua and Nogueira first faced off in 2005 in what was widely viewed as one of the best fights in Pride Fighting Championships history. Also targeted for UFC 161 is a bout between Dan “Hendo” Henderson and “Suga” Rashad Evans. USA Today first reported on the planned matchups on Monday.

Jinh Yu vs Meghan Wright Title Bout Set For SCS 16 On April 6Texas-based prospect Jinh Yu will make her pro debut on April 6th at Sugar Creek Showdown 16: “Resolution” in Hinton, Oklahoma. Yu faces Invicta FC veteran Meghan Wright in an SCS women’s atomweight title fight. The 105-pound matchup was officially announced for the card this past week.

Yu will be competing in her second straight title fight when she faces Wright. In September, she vied for the vacant Tuff-N-Uff 110-pound women’s title, but dropped a close decision to Jordan McDonald. Wright looks to get back on the winning track after suffering a submission loss in her Invicta debut.
