Gina Begley Submits Shannon Culpepper At RFA 7 In ColoradoKentucky native Gina “Jellybean” Begley earned her third submission win tonight in a featured bout at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 7 in Broomfield, Colorado. Begley handed Sparta Combat League champ Shannon “Sinn” Culpepper her first career defeat via second-round guillotine choke.

Begley, one of Invicta FC prospect Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke’s primary training partners, once again showcased her formidable ground skills in tonight’s 130-pound amateur matchup. She countered a takedown from Culpepper by locking on the choke for the impressive submission victory.

Begley (3-1-0) flurried with punches and pressed the action early in the fight. Culpepper (3-1-0) clinched and backed her opponent up to the cage, then landed short knees and punches in close. The fighters were eventually separated and Culpepper fought off takedown attempts until the end of the round.

Both fighters were aggressive with punching combinations in round two. They clinched and Culpepper secured a takedown. On the way down, Begley countered by locking on a guillotine choke. Culpepper tried to escape, but she could not and was forced to submit.

With tonight’s victory, Begley got back on track after suffering a controversial Split Decision loss to Crystal Vanessa Demopoulos in an October bout that many observers felt that Begley had won. All three of her amateur wins have come by way of submission.
