Seven More Fights Announced For Invicta FC 10 In TexasSeven more fights have been confirmed for Invicta Fighting Championships 10, which takes place on December 5th at Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas. The all-female card is headlined by a previously announced atomweight title bout between Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson and Hérica Tibúrcio.

Among the new fights added to the card today is a flyweight contender’s bout between Brazilian standout Jennifer Maia and undefeated rising star DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett. In a featured featherweight bout, Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet battles Faith “The Immortal” Van Duin.

Maia (9-3-1) is no stranger to Invicta FC fans and has already made two appearances for the promotion. In her April 2013 Invicta FC debut, Maia scored a Unanimous Decision win over former Bellator champ Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto to move into flyweight title contention, but she was defeated by current UFC competitor Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith at Invicta FC 6 three months later. Maia has since rebounded with a pair of quality victories in her native Brazil and she now looks to position herself for a future shot at Invicta FC title gold.

Bennett (5-0-0) has quietly become one of the flyweight division’s fastest rising stars. In her second pro fight, Bennett defeated future TUF 18 winner Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña at a Showdown Fights event in February 2013. She sat out for the remainder of the year, but has kept up a very active fighting schedule in 2014. First-round submission wins over Sharon Jacobson and SFL champion Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider earned Bennett a spot on the Invicta FC roster and she most recently stopped Michelle “T-Cat” Ould at Invicta FC 8.

Tweet (6-4-0) struggled early in her MMA career, but the Canadian striker has since won five of her past six fights and she has used her underrated ground game to submit five opponents to date. In her most recent Invicta FC appearance, Tweet moved up to 155 pounds and halted the momentum of highly-touted knockout artist Veronica “The Heartbreaker” Rothenhausler by finishing the American with ground and pound in the first round. She drops back down to featherweight next month in search of one of her biggest wins to date.

Van Duin (6-1-0) has progressively climbed the featherweight rankings by dominating the competition in her home country of New Zealand. After winning her first three fights, she entered a one-night Storm Damage featherweight title tournament in August 2013 and outlasted Michelle “Powerhouse” Peruzzi, Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe and Kate “Jiu-Jitseira” en route to winning the championship. She most recently suffered her first career defeat in an August rematch against Blencowe, who missed weight for the planned championship fight.

In bantamweight action on the Invicta FC 10 card, Mexican knockout artist Irene Aldana “Robles” (4-1-0) steps back into the Invicta FC cage to face Marion “The Bruiser” Reneau (4-1-0). Aldana destroyed her first three opponents in a matter of seconds in Mexico and most recently bounced back from her first career defeat by submitting Peggy Morgan at Invicta FC 8. Reneau has finished her opponents in all four of her career victories and she is coming off of a recent first-round submission win over Maureen “Babyface” Riordon in July.

The aforementioned Peggy “The Daywalker” Morgan (2-2-0) moves back up to featherweight after a disappointing campaign at 135 pounds and battles Invicta FC newcomer Andria Wawro (3-1-0) at Invicta FC 10 next month. Morgan scored her biggest win to date when she defeated Revelina “Nana” Berto in March 2013, but she has since suffered back-to-back setbacks following a stint on The Ultimate Fighter 18. Wawro has won two in a row leading into her Invicta FC debut and she most recently submitted Jessica Miele in just 19 seconds.

Alexa Grasso (5-0-0) once again joins teammate Irene Aldana on next month’s Invicta FC card. The 21-year-old Grasso is set to take on Texas’s own Alida Gray (4-1-0) in a featured strawweight fight. Like Aldana, Grasso also dominated her opponents early in her career in Mexico. She made a big statement in her Invicta FC debut in September by defeating Ashley “Smashley” Cummins in an action-packed three-round battle. Gray finished four straight opponents in 2013, including a highlight-reel knockout of Soannia Tiem, and recently challenged unsuccessfully for WSOF title gold in January.

Atomweight prospect Jinh Yu Frey (2-1-0) looks to rebound from her first professional defeat when she takes on the returning Cassie “The Hulk” Robb (0-2-0). Frey captured the Sugar Creek Showdown Women’s Atomweight Championship in her first pro fight in April 2013 and defended the title with a sensational knockout win three months later. She most recently dropped a razor-thin decision to Jodie Esquibel at Invicta FC 8. Robb remains in search of her first pro win, but she has put on strong showings in both of her fights to date. She returns to Invicta FC for the first time since early 2013.

Rounding out the card, former amateur champions collide when Hawaii’s Rachael Ostovich (1-1-0) takes on Kentucky’s Evva “No Fear” Johnson (1-1-0) in a flyweight bout. Ostovich amassed a stellar 6-0 amateur record before turning pro in January. She dropped her pro debut to fellow Invicta FC fighter Jenny Liou Shriver, but rebounded with a submission win in late September. Johnson’s 8-1 amateur run was equally impressive and included seven stoppage wins. She kicked off her pro career in September and overwhelmed Priscilla Brownfield with second-round strikes.

Invicta Fighting Championships 10 takes place on December 5th at Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas.
