Jessica Aguilar To Face Kalindra Faria At WSOF 15 In FloridaWSOF Women’s Strawweight Champion Jessica “Jag” Aguilar is set to make the next defence of her title on November 15th at World Series of Fighting 15 in Tampa, Florida. Aguilar faces top-ranked Brazilian contender Kalindra Faria, who has won 11 straight fights and makes her WSOF debut.

USA Today Sports first reported on plans for the title fight today. Aguilar captured the 115-pound WSOF title in January and retained the belt with a Unanimous Decision win in June. Faria has torn through the competition in Brazil and she is now one of the strawweight division’s fastest rising stars.

Aguilar (18-4-0) has not lost a fight in more than four years, though many of her pre-WSOF bouts were overshadowed by controversy. A disputed Split Decision win over “Little” Patricia Vidonic at Bellator 94 was followed by an equally disappointing rematch against Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii in Japan that ended when Fujii could not continue due to eye pokes. Under the WSOF banner, Aguilar has turned things around and she became the promotion’s first 115-pound female champion by submitting Alida Gray. She recently earned a clear-cut decision win over Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino at WSOF 10.

Faria (15-3-1) is not yet well-known among the North American MMA audience, but the Brazilian standout is arguably the biggest threat to date to Aguilar’s WSOF title. Faria opened her career with a modest 4-3-1 record that included losses to top contenders Carina “Barbie” Damm, Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha and Vanessa Porto. Since succumbing to a Porto armbar in March 2011, Faria has defeated 11 opponents in a row. She avenged her loss to Damm by easily submitting the veteran in a July 2013 rematch and ran her record to 3-0 in 2014 by dominating Sanja Sučević at XFC International 4 in April.

World Series of Fighting 15 takes place on November 15th at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida. The 115-pound title bout between Aguilar and Faria is one of three championship fights on the card.

  1. I am betting on Kalindra Faria.

  2. yo tambien le voy a kalindra farias

  3. Wow Rafael I had no idea who Kalindra was until you said you were betting on her. I admit I just presumed WSOF was putting another girl in there for Jessica to dominate. I will be absolutely sure to watch this fight now.

  4. Don’t get me wrong… JAG is legit, but I am not sold on her being #1 in her division by any means. And Kalindra Faria might be bigger and stronger. She’s very aggressive. This will be a very interesting fight. JAG got the edge in wrestling. Kalindra in all other aspects of the game. She easily armbarred a juiced to the gills and bigger Carina Damm in less than two minutes in their last fight… Kalindra Faria is as tough as it comes.

  5. Killer this is going to be fun to watch. Only one month away too. Going to be on the very same night as Leslie Smith v. Jessica Eye. What a night!

  6. JAG’s days are numbered, I believe. There is a muay thai champ named Jemyma Betrian who just had her pro mma debut. She is hands down the most ferocious striker I have ever seen. She KO’s everyone at straw weight. Her record is 35-1-1, I think. Jemyma splits time in Curacao, Netherlands and…GFC in Glendale, Cali….Ronda Rousey’s
gym. Her debut lasted 47 seconds. If she can become proficient on the ground and/or keep it standing, she will walk through the division. And…she is only 23 years old.
The big “if” is whether or not she has the ability to handle wrestlers like JAG and Esparza.

  7. Well, Germaine de Randamie is 37-0 as a Muay Thai fighter, and she was t.k.oed by Amanda Nunes, tapped by Vanessa Porto and lost a decision to Julia Budd. There are many fighters with an exceptional ground game in this division. Imagine Gadelha on the mat with her… let’s wait and see!

  8. Good point..mshe is so fine I just want to see her suceed at MMA. Good teachers at GFC!!! She will pick it all up with time.

  9. I agree with you about JAG. I believe there are a few girls on the show that would give her trouble. Her only advantage is that I think she walks around almost as heavy as Ronda!! She cuts loads of weight. I belueve I heard she enters the Octagon on fight day at close to 140.
