Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Sarah Kaufman’s UFC debut will have to wait a little longer. The Victoria, British Columbia native is without an opponent for her August 28th fight at UFC Fight Night 27: “Condit vs Kampmann 2” and has been officially removed from the card.

MMAjunkie.com first reported on the fight cancellation today. Kaufman was set to face Sara McMann, but McMann withdrew from the event earlier this month due to undisclosed reasons. UFC officials were unable to secure a new opponent for Kaufman, who will now be moved to an upcoming event.

Kaufman (16-2-0) was unsuccessful in her bid to regain the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title this past August when she was submitted by “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey in just 54 seconds, but her 6-2 run in the now-defunct promotion was enough to earn her a spot on the UFC roster this year. In order to stay busy, Kaufman was granted a fight at Invicta FC 5 in April, where she earned a razor-thin Split Decision victory over Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith. Two months later, her UFC debut fight against McMann was announced, but the bout was scrapped on August 5th.

Prior to removing Kaufman from the UFC Fight Night 27 card, UFC officials sought out a replacement opponent. However, the promotion’s options were limited, as much of its female roster is currently tied down by medical suspensions from recent fights. Kaufman is expected to be moved to an upcoming card and MMARising.com learned this past week that she may compete at UFC 166 on October 19th. An official announcement has not yet been made.
