Late Changes Made To FCF 49, BlackEye 5 Fight CardsInjuries and illness have resulted in a number of late changes to Saturday’s Freestyle Cage Fighting 49 and BlackEye Promotions 5 cards. In Shawnee, Oklahoma, the main event of FCF 49 now features Kaitlin Young taking on local favourite Liz Carreiro, who steps in to replace Jan “Cuddles” Finney.

The main card of BlackEye 5 in Fletcher, North Carolina has also undergone changes. Sarah “White Tiger” Schneider has replaced Sofie Bagherdai and faces Ivana Coleman. Ashley “Smashley” Cummins awaits a new opponent after Angelica “The Messenger” Brotherton withdrew due to an illness.

Young (4-5-0)* has fought just once in 2011 due partly to fight cancellations, but despite the late change in opponent, she will fight on as planned in the main event of FCF 49. In Carreiro (5-7-0), she faces a tough veteran who has fought 11 times for FCF and has only been stopped by strikes one time. All four of Young’s credited wins have come by knockout. Likewise, Carreiro has stopped her opponents in all five victories; four times by submission.

The all-female FCF 49 card was set to feature a bout between the aforementioned Sarah Schneider and Heather “Hurricane” Clark, but the fight was scrapped after the fighters could not agree on a contracted weight. Schneider opted to compete for BlackEye instead and Clark now faces Rumble on the River champion Sarah “Too Sweet” Alpar in a featured bout for FCF.

Freestyle Cage Fighting 49 takes place this Saturday, October 1st, at the FireLake Grand Casino in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The main event of BlackEye 5 currently remains intact, as former Strikeforce title challenger Roxanne “The Happy Warrior” Modafferi (15-8-0) is still scheduled to face Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak (4-1-0)* in the headliner. However, many of the other bouts on the all-female main card have shifted during the past two weeks and the promotion was forced to act quickly in order to book replacement fights.

Ashley “Loca” Sanchez and Sofie Bagherdai withdrew from the card for personal reasons and injured ribs, respectively. They have been replaced by Leslie Smith and Sarah Schneider. Ashley Cummins remains without an opponent as the promotion attempts to secure a replacement on one day’s notice after Angelica Brotherton fell ill.

BlackEye Promotions 5 also takes place on Saturday and will be held at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher, North Carolina.
