Middleweight standouts Dan Miller and Michael “The Count” Bisping are likely to collide at UFC 114 on May 29th in Las Vegas. While it has not yet been officially signed, MMAjunkie.com is reporting that the UFC is working to finalise the fight and at least one fighter has verbally agreed to the bout.
Both fighters are coming off of tough losses and another defeat could end any immediate hopes of title contention. Miller most recently dropped a three-round decision to Demian Maia at UFC 109, while Bisping came up short in his UFC 110 bout with Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva.
Miller (11-3-0, 1 NC) was the final holder of the IFL Middleweight Championship and won his first three fights inside the Octagon. Two of those bouts came via quick first-round submissions. However, he has lost back-to-back fights to top contenders Chael Sonnen and Maia and is in danger of sliding to the undercards with a third straight defeat. The talented submission fighter has finished eight of his opponents to date.
Bisping (18-3-0) was one step away from a title shot until his brutal knockout loss to former two-division PRIDE champ Dan “Hendo” Henderson at UFC 100. He battled back with an impressive victory over the highly-touted Denis Kang at UFC 105, but lost a competitive decision to Silva at UFC 110 in Australia. Another loss would be devastating to the British star’s career, but a victory over a tough challenger like Miller would keep Bisping in the title hunt.
UFC 114: “Jackson vs Evans” takes place on May 29th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a light heavyweight grudge match between former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Sugar” Rashad Evans.
