Another exciting bout is in the works for the upcoming UFC 108 card, as lightweight standouts Tyson Griffin and Jim Miller are set to square off in what will be a very important fight in the stacked division and could lead the victor to future title contention.
Griffin has been a mainstay in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2006 and has been involved in a series of high-profile fights. Likewise, Miller has enjoyed great success inside the Octagon and will look to take a giant step towards the UFC Lightweight Championship at Griffin’s expense.
Griffin (14-2-0) has earned five Fight of the Night bonuses in his nine-fight UFC career and is coming off of his most impressive showing to date. He knocked out tough challenger Hermes Franca in the second round of their UFC 103 contest and now looks to finally align himself for a future title shot.
Miller (15-2-0) has lost just one time in five trips to the Octagon and the lone defeat came against top contender Gray Maynard. Miller’s submission skills are among the best in the UFC’s lightweight division and he is excellent at working off of his back.
Both fighters like to push the pace and each one will be looking to put on a great show in hopes of attracting the attention of UFC matchmaker Joe Silva. Both seem to be one big win away from title contention and an impressive victory would add another contender to an already top-heavy division.
UFC 108 is currently set for January 2, 2009 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
