Ian “The Future” Garry vs Darian Weeks

Round 1:
Garry circled on the outside throughout the opening minute, then dropped Weeks with a leg kick. Weeks stood and he landed a lead left hook before clinching with Garry against the cage. Weeks took Garry’s back and landed a high knee, but Garry turned into the clinch and he broke free with a front kick. The fighters traded right hooks and Garry landed a stiff jab. Weeks secured another clinch, but Garry landed a knee and circled away shortly before time expired. Close round. 10-9 Garry, just barely.

Round 2:
Garry used his jab to keep Weeks at bay in the second round, but Weeks was eventually able to close the distance and he clinched. As the fighters separated, Weeks landed an elbow to Garry’s jaw. Weeks blocked a head kick and both men landed left-right combos. Garry threw two body kicks and he followed up with a right hook as Weeks landed a left. Weeks took Garry’s back and tried to suplex him to the mat. He could not get Garry down and Garry grazed with a flying knee before the bell. Another close round. 10-9 Garry.

Round 3:
The final round began with Garry landing two lead left hooks and a calf kick. Weeks partially blocked a head kick and Garry attacked his lead leg with another calf kick. Weeks landed an overhand right and Garry responded with a leg kick, jab combo. Garry dropped Weeks to a knee with a counter right hook, but Weeks recovered quickly and rose to his feet. He clinched and Garry reversed it against the fence. Weeks prevented Garry from taking him down and he landed a right hand on the break. Weeks took Garry’s back just before the bell and landed a left hand to his face. 10-9 Garry. Scores could vary heavily due to the closeness of the first two rounds.

Winner: Ian Garry by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 9-0-0.

 

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez vs Josh Fremd

Round 1:
Fremd struck first with a leg kick and he easily thwarted a Hernandez takedown attempt. Two more leg kicks and a right hook landed for Fremd, who stuffed another takedown and punished Hernandez with knees to the body. Hernandez finally got Fremd down and he took partial back control. Hernandez transitioned to a guillotine choke and the fighters stood up. Within seconds, Hernandez got Fremd down again. He moved from back control to another guillotine choke, but Fremd defended well. As Fremd stood up, Hernandez tried to secure a standing arm-triangle choke. Fremd broke his grip and landed a body kick, but Hernandez answered with a hard right hook. He took Fremd down and kneed him in the body. Fremd stood and Hernandez landed a right hand, then scored one more takedown in the final seconds. 10-9 Hernandez.

Round 2:
Hernandez put Fremd on the defensive right away in round two and he got Fremd down against the cage. Fremd stood and he was immediately taken down again. As Fremd got to his knees, Hernandez landed elbows to the side of his head. Fremd powered out and wound up on top in side control, and he locked on a guillotine choke in a scramble. It was tight, but Hernandez escaped and Fremd moved to North-South position. Hernandez scrambled up once and Fremd took him back down. In the final minute, Hernandez got to his feet and Fremd stunned him with a right hook. Fremd shot in for a takedown, but Hernandez countered with a guillotine choke. Fremd escaped, but Hernandez finished the round by landing right hands to a kneeling Fremd’s face. Close, back-and-forth round. 10-9 Hernandez by a slim margin due to the late-round rally.

Round 3:
Early in round three, Hernandez scored two takedowns and he threatened with a guillotine choke on the ground after the second one. Fremd continued to fight off the choke attempts, but Hernandez took his back. Fremd’s mouthpiece fell out and Hernandez landed two elbows to the side of his head. He kept Fremd down and landed more short punches and elbows, then a knee to the body. Late in the fight, Hernandez trapped Fremd in an inverted triangle choke, and he maintained it until the end of the fight. 10-9 Hernandez.

Winner: Anthony Hernandez by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 9-2-0, 1 NC.

 

Raquel “Rocky” Pennington vs Aspen Ladd

Round 1:
Cautious punches were exchanged in the opening minute and Pennington eventually closed the distance to clinch, but Ladd landed a counter left hook on the way in and she escaped from the clinch. Ladd landed a quick combination and she countered a right hand from Pennington with a strong left hook. Pennington used her jab to set up right hands to Ladd’s head and body. Pennington blocked a head kick and landed a kick to Ladd’s lead leg. Two big left hooks scored for Pennington, but Ladd landed a left hand of her own. More punches were exchanged and Ladd connected with a nice flurry, but Pennington cracked her with a right hook. Ladd retreated, then shot in for a takedown. Pennington stuffed it and finished the round with three knees to Ladd’s face. 10-9 Pennington.

Round 2:
Pennington landed two right hands early in the second round, then followed with a left hook and clinched. She held Ladd against the fence and threw knees to her body. Ladd broke free and time was called when Pennington was poked in both eyes as Ladd threw a head kick. Ladd was warned for the infraction and the fight continued. Pennington landed a right hook to Ladd’s jaw and a left to her liver. Ladd replied with a flurry, but Pennington backed her up with a right hook and two more punches. That led to another clinch against the cage and Pennington kneed Ladd’s thigh and body. Ladd escaped from the clinch and she landed two body kicks. Pennington ducked under punches from Ladd and scored with a three-punch combo. She finished the round by backing Ladd up with a lengthy flurry of punches. 10-9 Pennington.

Round 3:
In the final round, Ladd pressed the action, but Pennington countered each of her strikes with either a right hand or a leg kick. A clinch ensued and Ladd landed knees to Pennington’s body. She secured a double-leg takedown and worked from the top, but Pennington scrambled up to her feet. Ladd tried to jump on her back in search of a standing rear-naked choke. Pennington shook her off and turned into the clinch, where both women landed knees to the body. Ladd got Pennington down to a knee, but she could not keep her there. The fighters separated in the final five seconds and exchanged punches until the bell. 10-9 Ladd.

Winner: Raquel Pennington by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 14-8-0.

 

“Proper” Mike Malott vs Mickey Gall

Round 1:
Malott connected with two solid right hooks in the opening minute, but Gall returned fire with a four-punch flurry that forced Malott to circle away to his right. Malott regained his composure and scored with a hard right hook, then cut Gall beside his right eye with a lead left hand. Gall scored a brief takedown and Malott, bleeding from his nose, rose to his feet. Seconds later, the fighters traded punches and Malott landed a vicious left hook that sent Gall crashing face-first to the mat. The fight was not immediately stopped, so Malott dove in with more punches on the ground until referee James Larry Folsom finally intervened.

Winner: Mike Malott by KO (Punches) at 3:41 of round one. He improves to 8-1-1.

 

Alexey “The Boa Constrictor” Oleynik vs Jared “The Mountain” Vanderaa

Round 1:
Oleynik moved forward with two winging overhand rights and he used jabs to set up another looping right hook. Vanderaa avoided a takedown attempt and he landed a hard right cross. Oleynik pulled guard and a scramble ensued on the ground as Oleynik attempted to keep Vanderaa down. Vanderaa took Oleynik’s back, however, and threatened with a rear-naked choke. Oleynik turned over into Vanderaa’s guard and Vanderaa attempted a triangle choke. Oleynik escaped and passed to side control, then took Vanderra’s back. Vanderaa was able to get Oleynik off of his back, but Oleynik moved to side control and trapped him in his signature scarf hold. Vanderaa held on momentarily before tapping out.

Winner: Alexey Oleynik by Submission (Scarf Hold) at 3:39 of round one. He improves to 60-16-1.

 

Piera “La Fiera” Rodriguez vs Kay Hansen

Round 1:
Hansen fought off an early clinch with a knee to the body and she landed a quick combination. Rodriguez responded with a leg kick and she stuffed a takedown, but Hansen tied her up in a clinch and tripped her to the mat. Rodriguez returned to her feet and Hansen swept out her leg, but Rodriguez kicked her off and stood up. After a brief exchange of punches, Hansen shot in and took Rodriguez down. Hansen landed an elbow and she passed to half-guard while trying to secure an arm-triangle choke. Rodriguez defended and the round came to an end. 10-9 Hansen.

Round 2:
After an uneventful opening minute, Hansen caught a body kick in round two and she held Rodriguez against the cage. Rodriguez broke away and she landed a knee to the body, then stuffed a takedown from Hansen and tripped her to the ground. Hansen gave up her back and Rodriguez hunted for a rear-naked choke. Hansen defended and Rodriguez tried to roll over into mount. Hansen kept her in half-guard and the round ended with both women attempting ankle locks. 10-9 Rodriguez.

Round 3:
Rodriguez scored a takedown in the final round and Hansen kept her in butterfly guard. Rodriguez tried unsuccessfully to pass to side control, then stood up and kicked at Hansen’s legs. Hansen rose to her feet and Rodriguez landed a leg kick. She followed with a left hook and then held Hansen in a clinch against the cage. The fighters exchanged knees to the body and Hansen briefly looked for a standing guillotine choke. Rodriguez quickly freed her head and she resumed throwing knees to Hansen’s stomach. Late in the round, Hansen pushed Rodriguez away with a front kick to the body, but Rodriguez took her down again before the bell. 10-9 Rodriguez.

Winner: Piera Rodriguez by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 8-0-0.

 

Julio Arce vs Daniel Gustavo “Willycat” Santos

Round 1:
Santos blocked an early head kick from Arce and the fighters exchanged punches near the cage wall. Arce countered a right hand from Santos with a left hook. Santos landed an elbow on the break and he followed with a step-in back elbow strike that was blocked. Arce landed a left cross and he sidestepped a spinning wheel kick attempt from Santos. A hard jab and a left hook scored for Arce, who landed two more jabs before Santos clinched. Late in the round, Arce landed a head kick and two hard left hands, but Santos stayed on his feet and time expired soon after. 10-9 Arce.

Round 2:
Arce circled to his left and ducked under a right hook from Santos, which led to a clinch against the cage. The fighters separated and Santos grazed with a spinning backfist. Arce jabbed and he threw two kicks to the body. Both men attempted head kicks that were blocked and Santos landed two right hooks. Arce responded with a left and he used his jab to set up two head kicks. Santos missed with a spinning wheel kick and Arce tagged him with a one-two in response. Arce continued to jab and Santos missed with another wheel kick attempt. 10-9 Arce.

Round 3:
Arce remained effective with his jab in the final round and he landed a straight left. Santos replied with a body kick and Arce landed four consecutive jabs. Santos continued to press forward, but Arce kept him at bay with jabs and front kicks to the body. He landed a right-left combo and resumed jabbing while staying outside of Santos’s range. Santos’s left eye swelled up as Arce continued to targeted it with jabs. Santos missed badly with a a somersault kick attempt and fell, and Arce cracked him with a hard left hand before Santos could get back to his feet. 10-9 Arce.

Winner: Julio Arce by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 18-5-0.
