DeAnna Bennett Submits Colleen Schneider At Showdown Fights 14Flyweight prospect DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett moved up to 135 pounds and earned another impressive win tonight in front of hometown supporters at Showdown Fights 14: “Heavyweight Collision” in Orem, Utah. Bennett submitted Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider in the first round.

Despite giving up a size advantage to Schneider tonight, Bennett had little trouble in submitting the SFL women’s champ with a rear-naked choke to make it two-for-two against TUF 18 alumni. Bennett previously outpointed TUF 18 winner Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña in February 2013.

Bennett (4-0-0) clinched with Schneider (5-5-0) early in the fight and it was clear that Schneider was the bigger fighter. Bennett was undeterred and she landed short knees and punches in close before picking Schneider up and slamming her down to the canvas. Within seconds, Bennett took Schneider’s back in search of a rear-naked choke. Schneider tried to roll to defend, but Bennett flattened her out and worked again for the submission. She got her arm under Schneider’s chin and Schneider was forced to submit to the rear-naked choke at the 3:02 mark of round one.

With tonight’s dominant performance, Bennett kept her perfect professional record intact and she sent another message to other rising stars in the 125- and 135-pound women’s divisions. The 29-year-old Utah native recently signed on with Invicta Fighting Championships, but with her proven track record against TUF 18 competitors, Bennett may soon find herself on the UFC’s radar.

Earlier on tonight’s card, Kaytlin Neil (3-0-0 amateur) picked up a Split Decision win over Veta Arteaga (1-1-0 amateur) in a standup battle that did not appear to be as close as the scorecards suggested. Neil and Arteaga fought back and forth on the feet for nine minutes, but Neil’s varied attacks and ability to mix up her strikes allowed her to take control of the exchanges.

At the end of three rounds, one judge strangely scored the fight 29-28 for Arteaga. The remaining two had it 30-27 and 29-28 for Neil, who took the well-deserved victory.
