UFC 157: "Rousey vs Carmouche" Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe Ultimate Fighting Championship travelled to Honda Center in Anaheim, California tonight for UFC 157: “Rousey vs Carmouche.” In the historic main event, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey defended her new title against challenger Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche.

Also on the card, light heavyweight stars Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and Dan “Hendo” Henderson faced off in a contender’s bout. In a bantamweight rematch, “The California Kid” Urijah Faber faced “The Pride of El Salvador” Ivan Menjivar. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the UFC 157 card.

 

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship

“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey vs Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche

Round 1:
Rousey closed the distance right away, but Carmouche landed quick counter hooks on the way in. Rousey dragged Carmouche down into the scarf hold position and tried for a scarf hold armlock, but Carmouche escaped and leapt onto Rousey’s back. She locked on a tight neck crank and had Rousey in trouble, but Rousey managed to shake her off and stood over a downed Carmouche. Rousey landed punches and avoided a heel hook attempt by dropping down into side control.

Rousey returned to the scarf hold position and landed short left hands. Carmouche threw knee strikes to Rousey’s side as Rousey attempted to isolate Carmouche’s right arm. Rousey used an arm-triangle choke to set up a move to mount and spun right into an armbar. Carmouche defended well, but Rousey kept at it until she finally extended Carmouche’s arm. Carmouche tapped out with seconds to go in the round. Excellent fight.

Winner: Ronda Rousey by Submission (Armbar) at 4:49 of round one. She improves to 7-0-0 and remains the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

 

Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida vs Dan “Hendo” Henderson

Round 1:
Machida kept his distance and landed occasional kicks in round one while staying out of range of Henderson’s punches. He remained on the outside and landed two body kicks. A kick-punch combo scored for Machida and he continued to circle at a distance. Machida landed a right hook and Henderson finally connected with a flurry. Machida avoided a clinch, but Henderson closed in again. Machida swept out Henderson’s leg and landed two hard elbows from the top as the bell sounded. 10-9 Machida.

Round 2:
Machida attempted a head kick that was blocked early in round two. Henderson landed a right hook and a leg kick, but Machida tripped him to a knee with a counter kick. Henderson caught a front kick, but Machida pulled his leg free. Henderson countered a combination with a right hook that just grazed the jaw of Machida. Henderson ducked into a knee, but appeared to be unfazed.

Henderson threw leg kicks, but he was unable to land any of his punches and Machida countered with a body kick. A right hand landed for Machida and he began to use feints. Henderson closed the distance long enough to land a left hook. Machida kicked from a distance and evaded Henderson’s punches. Henderson landed a lunging right late in the round and Machida replied with a spinning back kick. Close round. 10-9 Machida.

Round 3:
Machida landed a hard kick to the body in round three. Henderson took him down and wound up in Machida’s guard. He landed short elbows, but Machida defended well from the bottom. Henderson managed to land punches to the body with his right hand as Machida tied him up. Machida scrambled up to his feet and landed a nice leg kick. He dove in with a right hand and Henderson answered with one in return. A jumping front kick and a head kick partially landed for Machida. 10-9 Henderson.

Winner: Lyoto Machida by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 19-3-0.

 

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber vs “The Pride of El Salvador” Ivan Menjivar

Round 1:
Menjivar landed two hooks to open the fight and Faber answered with a right hand. Menjivar threw him to the mat, but Faber rolled through and wound up on top in side control. Menjivar fought his way back to full guard and tried for a triangle choke. Faber punched his way free and landed a solid elbow strike. More elbows scored for Faber and he remained in control from the top. After another barrage of elbows, Faber jumped into a back crucifix as Menjivar stood up. Faber transitioned to full back control and secured a standing rear-naked choke. Menjivar could not escape and tapped out.

Winner: Urijah Faber by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:34 of round one. He improves to 27-6-0.

 

Court “The Crusher” McGee vs Josh “The Dentist” Neer

Round 1:
Neer landed a hard right hand early in the fight and McGee replied with two quick flurries. McGee mixed up his strikes, but Neer cracked him with two big hooks and an overhand right. A leg kick and an uppercut scored for McGee and he backed Neer up with a left hook. Neer regained his footing and both fighters landed right hooks. McGee peppered Neer with punches to the head and body.

McGee backed Neer up with a one-two and a head kick, then flurried with more punches as Neer beckoned him to bring on the offence. Neer’s face began to swell up as McGee jabbed and put together combinations. A kick to the liver hurt Neer and McGee poured it on with punches. Neer crumpled to the mat and McGee stood over him with punches. He took Neer’s back just before time expired. 10-9 McGee.

Round 2:
McGee landed more body kicks in round two and flurried with punches. Neer landed a right hook, but McGee tripped him after catching a kick. Neer stood and landed two hard uppercuts in the clinch. McGee remained very active with his punches and attempted a head kick. Neer replied with a pair of left hooks. Power punches were exchanged and Neer stunned McGee with an uppercut and a right hook.

McGee quickly recovered and continued to throw quick combinations. Neer began to target the body and he backed McGee up with punches. Neer jabbed and McGee landed a kick to the liver. More punches landed for Neer to the body and the head. McGee slowed down and Neer scored with more left hooks and a knee. A spinning back kick missed for McGee, but he landed a jab at the bell. Close second round. 10-9 Neer.

Round 3:
Neer countered a combination from McGee with two hooks in the final round. McGee clinched and punched to the body. He landed two elbows before Neer circled away from the clinch. Both fighters landed punches and McGee appeared to get the better of the exchange. He took Neer down and tried to move to back control as Neer stood. Neer defended and attempted to break free of the clinch.

McGee maintained the clinch and took Neer down. Neer looked to set up an armbar from the bottom, but McGee easily avoided danger and stood over him with punches. Neer prevented him from passing his guard and tried for a triangle choke. McGee pushed Neer’s legs aside and took his back. Neer scrambled back to guard, but McGee landed punches and elbows until the end of the fight. 10-9 McGee.

Winner: Court McGee by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 15-3-0.

 

“Ruthless” Robbie Lawler vs Josh Koscheck

Round 1:
Koscheck scored a double-leg takedown in the opening 30 seconds, but Lawler used a butterfly sweept to work back to his feet. Koscheck trapped him in a front choke, then let it go and tried for another takedown. He got Lawler down and briefly looked for a rear-naked choke. Lawler turned into the choke and stood up, but ate a right hand on the way. Lawler landed two knees and sprawled out of a takedown. He landed one hard left hand that badly stunned Koscheck, then flash KOed him out with follow-up punches. Koscheck regained consciousness as the fight was stopped. Huge win for Lawler.

Winner: Robbie Lawler by TKO (Punches) at 3:57 of round one. He improves to 20-9-0, 1 NC.

Lets see you gave hendo rd 3 because he got a td off of a slip from machida, but you scored rd one a tie, lets seeoh yah machida took hendo down fronm a clinch and landedtwo strikes that hurt, so for that reason machida wins rd 1, rd 2 machida is the only one who landed anything so that rd goes to machda too, rd 3 machida outstruck hendo and swept him using a kimura, then outsruck himagain, i gave all three rds to machida, if machida never reversed hendo after the td, or had to get stood up by the ref, then the td should get the rd for hendo but if you get points for a td you must get equal points for reversing it, and then if the grappling is even then striking must count, and therefor machida should be given rd three
