T.J. Grant vs Matt Wiman
Round 1:
Both fighters were active with punches in the opening minute of round one and Grant landed nice counter hooks to the head and body. He mixed in leg kicks and Wiman answered with right hands. Wiman landed leg kicks of his own and knees were exchanged in close. Grant wobbled Wiman with a short elbow and easily avoided a takedown attempt. Grant bloodied Wiman with strikes on the ground. Back on the feet, Grant landed two standing elbows that dropped Wiman like a rock and the fight was stopped.
Winner: T.J. Grant by KO (Elbows) at 4:51 of round one. He improves to 20-5-0.
Clay “The Carpenter” Guida vs Hatsu Hioki
Round 1:
Guida flurried early in the fight and Hioki answered with body kicks and counterpunches. An uppercut scored for Hioki and he continued to land kicks. A combination came up short for Guida and Hioki landed more counters before stuffing a takedown. Hioki jabbed and kicked at Guida’s leg. Guida finally took Hioki down and Hioki framed up a triangle choke. The fighters scrambled and Hioki tried to take Guida’s back. Back on the feet, Hioki landed knees and jabs. 10-9 Hioki.
Round 2:
Guida countered kicks from Hioki by slamming him to the ground in round two. Hioki fought back to full guard and tried for a Kimura. He switched to an armbar and Guida slammed out. Guida tried to strike from the top, but Hioki defended well from the bottom. Guida snuck in short elbows until the fighters were stood up. Hioki landed a series of kicks in the final seconds, including one to the head. 10-9 Hioki, barely.
Round 3:
Guida took Hioki back down in round three, but Hioki immediately attempted a triangle choke and an omoplata. He cut Guida with elbows from the bottom, but Guida managed to pass to half-guard. Hioki fought back to full guard and tried to stand. Guida held him down until the fighters were stood up. Hioki landed a left hook and two body kicks. Another close round. 10-9 Hioki.
Winner: Clay Guida by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 30-13-0.
Pascal “Panzer” Krauss vs Mike Stumpf
Round 1:
Both fighters landed jabs and chopping leg kicks in the early goings. Stumpf took Krauss down and struck from the top, but Krauss kicked Stumpf off and stood up. In the clinch, the fighters traded knees to the body. Krauss threw more knees and Stumpf answered with uppercuts. Krauss began to establish his jab again and put together combinations of punches and kicks, including a front kick to the face. An uppercut dropped Stumpf to a knee and Stumpf tried for a takedown. Krauss countered with a guillotine choke. 10-9 Krauss.
Round 2:
Another front kick to the face scored for Krauss in round two. Leg kicks were exchanged and Krauss mixed up his strikes nicely. A flying uppercut backed Stumpf up briefly, but he regained his footing and landed a one-two. Krauss took Stumpf down, but Stumpf reversed and stood. He tripped Krauss, but he was unable to mount much offence on the ground.
Back on the feet, the fighters traded hard punches and standing elbows in the clinch. Stumpf landed some good shots, but Krauss retaliated with knees that further bloodied Stumpf’s nose. Two more big knees scored for Krauss and he remained in control of the clinch battles. Stumpf broke free just before the bell and landed a Superman Punch. 10-9 Krauss.
Round 3:
Krauss landed a combination in round three and time was briefly called to replace Stumpf’s mouthpiece. Krauss landed a Superman uppercut, his third of the fight, and flurried with punches in close. A combination and a leg kick backed Stumpf up and Krauss easily avoided a takedown attempt. Stumpf landed a looping right hook, but it appeared to have little effect.
Krauss sprawled out to defend against another takedown and landed a knee and punches. Stumpf replied with an uppercut and tried again to take Krauss down. He pulled guard and Krauss struck from the top. Krauss kept Stumpf pinned down and punched to the head and body. He remained on top until the end of the round and avoided a Stumpf armbar attempt in the final seconds. 10-9 Krauss.
Winner: Pascal Krauss by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 11-1-0.
Ryan “Darth” Bader vs Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko
Round 1:
Bader dropped Matyushenko with a left hook early in the fight and locked on a modified guillotine choke as Matyushenko stood. Bader pulled half-guard with the choke, which appeared to be an inverted arm-triangle, and Matyushenko tapped out soon after.
Winner: Ryan Bader by Submission (Modified Guillotine Choke) 0:50 of round one. He improves to 15-3-0.
Shawn “The Savage” Jordan vs Mike Russow
Round 1:
The fighters clinched early on and Russow rocked Jordan with a right hand. He swarmed with punches and landed uppercuts from the clinch that bloodied Jordan, but Jordan circled backwards and recovered. After another clinch, Russow staggered Jordan again with another combination. He took Jordan’s back on the feet, but Jordan managed to circled away. Russow landed more punches and briefly tripped Jordan to the mat. Jordan stood against the cage and both men landed punches. Jordan snuck in elbows over the top. 10-9 Russow.
Round 2:
After a brief timeout following an accidental eye poke from Jordan, action resumed and Jordan scored with a combination. He was able to take Russow down and landed punches from the top as Russow appeared to slow down. Russow managed to scramble back to his feet and he attempted a front choke. Jordan dumped him to the mat and punched from the top. He moved to mount and landed punches until Russow gave up his back. Jordan threw punches and elbows and the bout was stopped.
Winner: Shawn Jordan by TKO (Punches & Elbows) at 3:48 of round two. He improves to 14-4-0.
Rafael “Sapo” Natal vs Sean “Black Magic” Spencer
Round 1:
Time was called early on after Spencer was poked in the eye. The fight continued and Natal avoided Spencer’s punches by kicking from a distance. Natal missed with a spinning backfist and Spencer dropped him soon after with a left hook. Natal quickly stood and landed a nice right hand. He clinched and scored a takedown late in the round, then landed punches and worked for a guillotine choke until the bell. 10-9 Natal.
Round 2:
Natal landed more leg kicks and scored a takedown in round two. Spencer stood and ate a knee to the body. Natal took Spencer back down and alternated between punches and small slams to keep Spencer down. Spencer attempted to escape to his feet and nearly gave up his back. Natal moved to mount in the dying seconds of the round and landed big punches. He secured a rear-naked choke, but Spencer was saved by the bell. 10-9 Natal.
Round 3:
Natal tried to get Spencer down in round three and slammed him to the mat on his second try. He moved to a top-side crucifix and landed elbows as Spencer struggled to defend. Natal’s elbows cut Spencer and Natal soon worked for a heylock. He could not get it, but moved to mount and locked on an arm-triangle choke that forced Spencer to submit.
Winner: Rafael Natal by Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) at 2:13 of round three. He improves to 15-4-1.
David “Daudi” Mitchell vs Simeon “The Grin” Thoresen
Round 1:
After an early exchange of jabs and leg kicks, Mitchell clinched and punched to the body. He backed away and landed a right cross, then just missed with an uppercut. Thoresen had success with right hooks and leg kicks, and he rushed in with a combination. Mitchell circled out, but Thoresen remained aggressive with punches. Mitchell countered nicely with hooks and another uppercut and landed a hook to the body before the bell. 10-9 Mitchell.
Round 2:
Mitchell pressed forward and clinched in round two. Thoresen broke away, but Mitchell walked him down with punches and rocked him with a left hook. Mitchell dropped Thoresen with punches and worked to take his back on the ground. Thoresen recovered guard as Mitchell punished him from the top. Mitchell attempted a heel hook and the fighters stood. Thoresen secured a takedown and Mitchell countered with a gogoplata attempt. He swept into top position and remained there until the end of the round. 10-9 Mitchell.
Round 3:
The cageside doctor checked on Thoresen’s damaged eye prior to round three, but the bout continued and Thoresen landed some solid punches before Mitchell took him down. Thoresen attempted a leglock and Mitchell stood to escape. He kicked at Thoresen’s legs and the fighters traded punches on the feet. Mitchell fell after a leg kick from Thoresen and pulled guard. Mitchell worked for a triangle choke and an omoplata and punched at Thoresen’s eye. The fight returned to the feet and Thoresen tried unsuccessfully for a takedown. 10-9 Mitchell.
Winner: David Mitchell by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 12-2-0.
