Titan Fighting Championship 18 Live Play-By-Play & ResultsTitan Fighting Championship made its return to HDNet tonight with TFC 18 from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The event was headlined by a catchweight bout between former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens “Lil’ Evil” Pulver and Missouri-based knockout artist Brian “Mr. D” Davidson.

Also on the card, UFC veteran Jake Rosholt came in on short notice to face John Ott in a catchweight bout at 200 pounds, while Rosholt’s brother Jared faced Kirk Grinlinton at heavyweight in another last-minute event addition. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the HDNet-televised card.

 

Brian “Mr. D” Davidson vs Jens “Lil’ Evil” Pulver

Round 1:
Davidson landed a grazing head kick and a follow-up kick-punch combo early in round one. He appeared to be a step ahead of Pulver, who landed a left to the body. Davidson scored with another combination and a body kick. Pulver took him down and worked from Davidson’s guard. Short punches landed for both fighters on the ground and time was called after an illegal upkick from Davidson. Action resumed with no point deductions, but Pulver was cut below the right eye.

Davidson landed a head kick, a one-two and another head kick. Pulver took him back down and once again struck from Davidson’s guard. Davidson scrambled to his feet and landed a one-two. He added more quick punches and stuffed a takedown. Davidson landed some big right hands and took Pulver’s back. Big hammerfists landed for Davidson and he secured a tight rear-naked choke. Pulver had nowhere to go and tapped out.

Winner: Brian Davidson by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:04 of round one. He improves to 7-3-0.

 

John Ott vs Jake Rosholt

Round 1:
Ott was aggressive early on with a leg kick and a rushing flurry of punches that forced Rosholt back to the cage. Rosholt escaped a clinch, but Ott landed a nice right hook. Rosholt scored with a body kick and sidestepped an overhand right. Ott caught a kick and tripped Rosholt to the mat. Rosholt stood, but was unable to take Ott down. Rosholt landed a pair of left hooks in close and Ott missed with a spinning back kick.

Rosholt began to put the pressure on with punches and he dragged Ott face-first to the mat. Rosholt tried to take Ott’s back, then moved to mount. He landed an elbow and punches as Ott held on. More short strikes landed for Rosholt and he cut Ott with an elbow. Rosholt continued to throw elbows and Ott countered with hammerfists from the bottom. Rosholt opened another cut with elbows and remained active until the bell. 10-9 Rosholt.

Round 2:
The second round began with an exchange of punches and Rosholt landed a counter left hook. He took Ott down and fought off a guillotine choke attempt. From side control, Rosholt landed short elbows to the head and knees to the body. Ott scrambled to his feet, but ate a hard knee and was promptly taken down again.

Rosholt worked from the top in Ott’s half-guard with more elbows and he nearly passed to mount. Soon after, Rosholt made it to mount and he postured up. Rosholt landed two elbows and tried for a Brabo Choke, but Ott escaped. Back in Ott’s half-guard, Rosholt elbowed the thigh as Ott answered with strikes from his back. 10-9 Rosholt.

Round 3:
Ott landed a combination in the final round, but Rosholt countered with a Superman Punch and a takedown. He elbowed from the top as a third cut opened on Ott’s face. Ott escaped to his feet and the fighters exchanged head kicks. Rosholt rocked Ott with a right hook and followed with more strikes. Ott desperately tried for a takedown, but Rosholt slammed him on his head.

Rosholt punched from back control and moved to mount, but time was called to check the numerous cuts on Ott’s face. A particularly deep one on the bridge of Ott’s nose was bleeding all over the place. Somehow, the fight was allowed to continue and the fighters traded punches. Ott shot in for a takedown, but wound up on the bottom. A pool of blood formed under him and Rosholt stood up.

Ott tried to stand up, but Rosholt drilled him with an obviously illegal knee. Time was called as Ott staggered all over the place. The fight was eventually waved off and Ott was deemed unable to continue. Ott was ruled the winner by way of disqualification due to the illegal knee.

Winner: John Ott by DQ (Illegal Knee) at 4:23 of round three. He improves to 9-8-0.

 

Rudy “Bad News” Bears vs Darryl Cobb

Round 1:
Both fighters opened with kicks early in the first round and Cobb pawed out with jabs that missed the mark. Bears scored with more kicks and Cobb fell while throwing a spinning kick. He got up and circled out of Bears’s reach. Bears landed a switch kick and targeted Cobb’s lead leg again. Cobb landed a nice combination and Bears shot for a takedown.

Cobb sprawled out and the fighters stood. Cobb countered a leg kick with a hard right hook, but was dropped by a counter one-two. Bears secured a modified rear-naked choke, but Cobb somehow escaped. Bears moved to mount and teed off with punches, then locked on another rear-naked choke for the victory.

Winner: Rudy Bears by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 3:30 of round one. He improves to 13-7-0.

 

Jared “The Big Show” Rosholt vs Kirk Grinlinton

Round 1:
Grinlinton landed a leg kick early in the fight, but Rosholt countered nicely with three hard punches in close. Grinlinton kept his distance and threw leg kicks, but Rosholt avoided them. He ducked under a haymaker right hook from Grinlinton and took him down. Rosholt moved to mount and unloaded with punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Jared Rosholt by TKO (Punches) at 1:37 of round one. He improves to 3-0-0.

 

“Super Duper” Bobby Cooper vs Nick Budig

Round 1:
Budig landed punches early on and Cooper’s mouthpiece fell out. Time was called to replace it and action resumed soon after. Budig scored with another flurry, but Cooper countered with kicks and looping hooks. He slipped against the cage, but got back to his feet and broke free of a clinch. Budig landed single hooks, but Cooper kept his distance.

Cooper began to jab and used his reach advantage to stay a step ahead of Budig. A nice left hook landed for Budig, however, and Cooper backed up. Budig followed with a one-two and a right cross. Budig continued to throw right hands, but ate a pair of kicks to the liver. Right hooks landed for both fighters late in the round. 10-9 Budig.

Round 2:
Cooper jabbed and landed two body kicks in the second round. He countered a lunging one-two with a left hook, but Budig landed a leg kick. Cooper began to take over the striking exchanges with his jabs and quick right hands. Budig slowed down, but landed a grazing one-two and rushed in with wild punches. Cooper countered with crisp strikes and circled out.

Cooper scored with a leg kick and was hit by a right hook counter. More leg kicks landed for Cooper and Budig’s left eye continued to swell up. Budig landed a right hook and tripped Cooper to the mat. Cooper stood and resumed his combination work with kicks and punches. Jab after jab landed for Cooper, and the fighters traded big punches in the final seconds. 10-9 Cooper.

Round 3:
Budig rocked Cooper with punches in the final round, but Cooper circled away and recovered. The fighters traded big shots and Cooper landed a body kick. Budig slowed down again and Cooper landed two leg kicks. He added another soon after and Budig countered with a right cross that came up just short.

Budig appeared to fatigue as he slowly moved forward and missed with punches. Cooper countered with jabs and leg kicks. Budig managed to score with a diving right hook as Cooper backed away. Budig came up short with a one-two and Cooper punished him with a counter hook and a leg kick. Cooper jabbed and landed a kick before the bell. 10-9 Cooper.

Winner: Bobby Cooper by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 5-2-0.

 

Joe “The Nose” Wilk vs Jesse Zeugin

Round 1:
The fighters traded jabs early on and clinched against the cage. Both landed knees to the body and Wilk tripped Zeugin to the mat. He struck with short elbows from the top in Zeugin’s half-guard. Wilk postured up and slammed Zeugin down again, then moved to side control. He secured an Anaconda Choke and rolled through. Zeugin had no choice but to tap.

Winner: Joe Wilk by Submission (Anaconda Choke) at 3:36 of round one. He improves to 12-6-0.

 

Sean “P-Town” Wilson vs Deryck “The Professor” Ripley

Round 1:
Ripley scored a takedown early in the bout and transitioned from side control to the back. He looked for a rear-naked choke, but Wilson scrambled out and slammed free of a triangle choke. Ripley attempted a kneebar, but Wilson countered with a toe hold and Ripley hastily tapped out.

Winner: Sean Wilson by Submission (Toe Hold) at 2:00 of round one. He improves to 28-16-0.
