Kailin Curran Set To Face Emi Tomimatsu At PXC 38 In AugustHawaiian prospect Kailin Curran is set to take on her most experienced opponent to date on August 9th at Pacific Xtreme Combat 38 in Mangilao, Guam. Curran faces grappling specialist Emi Tomimatsu in a strawweight bout. MMARising.com confirmed the fight with PXC CEO E.J. Calvo today.

Curran made her pro debut in PXC’s first female fight on March 8th and she earned a Unanimous Decision victory over Invicta FC veteran Kaiyana Rain. Tomimatsu has won three of her past five fights since returning to MMA. She looks to rebound from a razor-thin loss to Mika “Future Princess” Nagano.

Mei Yamaguchi vs Lorena Klijn Rematch Announced For June 23Shoot Boxing rivals “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi and Lorena “Lady Pitbull” Klijn are set to face off for a second time on June 23rd at Shoot Boxing 2013: Act.3 in Tokyo, Japan. Yamaguchi narrowly defeated Klijn when the fighters first met in the semi-finals of the 2012 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup tournament.

The rematch was officially announced today and both women expressed an interest in challenging three-time Girls S-Cup champion Rena Kubota in the future. Yamaguchi dropped a close decision to Kubota in the finals of the 2012 tournament. Klijn is coming off of a win over Miyo Yoshida in April.

I started fighting when I was 19 after seeing another girl step into the cage, which really inspired me. Nobody had faith in me that I could do it. I was always into girly sports like figure skating, cheerleading and gymnastics, although I’d always wondered what it would be like to box.

I had been to a couple of local fights, but never had I seen a woman do it and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I’d also never even been in a fist fight before, but I did take a self-defense course when I was in college.

Esparza Injured, Gadelha vs Hamasaki Now Set For Invicta FC 6A knee injury has forced Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza out of her July 13th title defence against Jewels champ Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta Fighting Championships 6 in Kansas City, Missouri. Hamasaki now faces Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha on the card.

Gadelha announced the fight change on Saturday and MMAFighting.com confirmed details of Esparza’s injury today. A timetable for Esparza’s return is not yet known and Gadelha and Hamasaki, who are both undefeated in their mixed martial arts careers, may compete for an interim title belt.
