Cassie Robb's Invicta Fighting Championships 6 BlogSo let’s start from the top. My name is Cassie Robb, I am 22 years old and from Casper, Wyoming. I started fighting when I was 19 after seeing another girl step into the cage, which really inspired me. Nobody had faith in me that I could do it. I was always into girly sports like figure skating, cheerleading and gymnastics, although I’d always wondered what it would be like to box.

I had been to a couple of local fights, but never had I seen a woman do it and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I’d also never even been in a fist fight before, but I did take a self-defense course when I was in college.

I heard about a fight in Cheyenne, Wyoming, trained for about two weeks and took the fight against Kiele Lewis. I did awesome but ended up losing to a submission in the second round. I got back to training after that and decided this was something I really wanted to do. I wanted to be good at it and I wanted to know what it would be like to have my hand raised. As it turns out, I became a really great grappler after that, but I broke my hand and ended up taking some time off.

A few months later, I started training again and took a fight against Ali Kistler, which is when I met my fiancée Stephanie Skinner. I was in a relationship at the time, but I felt an instant connection with her. My current relationship ended not too long after and I started talking to Stephanie on Facebook. I gave her my number and we hit it off right away.

Two months later, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and then another two months after that I moved to Colorado to be closer to her. I started training with her team, coached by Benjamin Schissler and Diana Rael. I took my training a lot more seriously when I moved here because I trained with all professionals. I would train every day, as opposed to whenever I felt like it when I was in Wyoming. On October 31, 2012, Stephanie asked for my hand in marriage and I happily obliged. 🙂

As if I wasn’t ecstatic already, the end of November came around and I got some of the best news I’ve ever received. Ben had me come over with Steph to talk to him about a potential fight for me. Little did I know what to expect. When he told me that Invicta was offering me a contract, I could not believe what I was hearing! This promotion was something I had dreamed about fighting for! I was overwhelmed with excitement!

I had my professional debut at Invicta FC 4 on January 5th, which did not end with a victory on my part although I put up one hell of a fight. It was the experience of a lifetime, and since then I’ve been training my butt off to make sure that come July 13th I will be stepping out of the cage with my first pro win! 🙂

Cassie Robb faces Livia von Plettenberg at Invicta FC 6 on July 13th in Kansas City, Missouri.
