Penn-Fitch Rematch Among Four Fights Added To UFC 132The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced plans for a quartet of quality fights for UFC 132 on July 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada. Among them is a welterweight rematch between former two-division UFC champion “The Prodigy” B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch. The pair fought to a Draw last month.

Also announced were three lightweight bouts featuring six top prospects and contenders. Knockout artist Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard will clash with Shane Roller, George Sotiropoulos will battle Evan Dunham, and rising German star Dennis Siver will square off against “Handsome” Matt Wiman.

Once-beaten Irish standout Aisling “Ais The Bash” Daly will step back into the cage on April 24th. The Bellator veteran has agreed to face Germany’s Sheila “Bulldog” Gaff at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 41 in North London, England in a featured matchup to be contested at 125 pounds.

MMARising.com confirmed plans for the fight with a source close to the negotiations on Monday. Daly will make her second appearance for Cage Warriors after defeating Molly Helsel at CWFC 39 in November. Gaff most recently scored an eight-second knockout victory on February 26th.

Hitomi Akano Picks Up Quick Submission Win At PancraseDespite the recent earthquake and tsunami disasters in Japan, Pancrase pushed ahead with its “Impressive Tour 2” event on Sunday night in Osaka. Strikeforce veteran and former Smackgirl Middleweight Champion Hitomi “Girlfight Monster” Akano submitted Chisa Yonezawa in a featured bout.

Akano travelled south to Osaka alongside long-time friend and AACC trainer Megumi Fujii, as the pair took the opportunity to move away from the Tokyo region amidst ongoing warnings of radiation leaks from the north. Needing just 40 seconds to defeat Yonezawa, Akano earned her 17th pro victory.

Taylor Stratford, Edmond Xhelili Capture Tuff-N-Uff TitlesLeading amateur promotion Tuff-N-Uff held its third event of 2011 Saturday night at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, Edmond “The Albanian Assassin” Xhelili avenged his lone loss by defeating Jason Richey for the Tuff-N-Uff Middleweight Championship.

Tuff-N-Uff’s inaugural 145-pound women’s champion was also crowned as Reno, Nevada’s Taylor “No Mercy” Stratford impressively submitted Ashlee “The Terminator” Evans-Smith. The victory was Stratford’s second in eight days, as she earned an Ultimate Reno Combat title last weekend.

UFC Parent Company Zuffa, LLC Purchases StrikeforceThe mixed martial arts industry has undergone a drastic change today with the announcement that Ultimate Fighting Championship parent company, Zuffa, LLC, has purchased the UFC’s biggest competitor, Strikeforce. UFC President Dana White first announced the news to MMAFighting.com.

While White stated that Strikeforce will continue to operate with “business as usual” and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker still at the helm, news of the acquisition caught fighters and other Strikeforce employees off-guard. The San Jose-based Strikeforce is expected to continue to air on Showtime.
