The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas tonight for UFC Fight Night 94: “Poirier vs Johnson.” The event was headlined by a lightweight showdown between Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier and fellow 155-pound rising star Michael “The Menace” Johnson.

In tonight’s co-main event, Derek Brunson took on Uriah “Primetime” Hall in a battle between highly-touted middleweight contenders. Veteran lightweight Evan Dunham faced off against Rick “The Gladiator” Glenn, and grappling ace Roan “Jucao” Carneiro met Kenny Robertson in welterweight action.

Former Deep Jewels Interim Strawweight Champion Emi Tomimatsu looks to rebound from a decision defeat in June when she returns to action on November 3rd at Deep Jewels 14 in Tokyo, Japan. Tomimatsu is set to battle veteran contender Tomo Maesawa in a featured atomweight matchup.

Deep Jewels officials announced the bout this week. Also confirmed for the card is a second atomweight contender’s bout between Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka and highly-touted rising star Mina Kurobe, who is coming off of her second victory over Maesawa at Deep Jewels 13 this past month.

Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade continued her reign of terror in the women’s strawweight division with another highly impressive victory tonight at UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” in Cleveland, Ohio. The former bantamweight submitted Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood with a first-round guillotine choke.

Andrade completely dominated tonight’s main-card matchup after taking Calderwood to the mat, and she now takes another big step towards a UFC title shot. In bantamweight action on the preliminary card, Bethe “Pitbull” Correia narrowly defeated hometown fan favourite Jessica “Evil” Eye.

Brazilian standout Kalindra Faria captured her first major title outside of her home country with a dominant decision victory tonight at Titan Fighting Championship 41 in Coral Gables, Florida. Faria defeated Carina “Barbie” Damm again to become Titan FC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Faria, who typically competes between 115 and 125 pounds, moved to 2-1 against rival Damm with a clear-cut victory in tonight’s main event. She outstruck Damm on the feet in all five rounds and controlled the action on the ground en route to capturing Titan FC’s inaugural women’s title.

Former Deep Jewels champion Seo Hee Ham seeks her second UFC win when she steps back inside the Octagon on October 15th at UFC Fight Night 97: “Lamas vs Penn” in Pasay, Manila, Philippines. Ham is set to face off against KOTC titleholder “Dynamite” Danielle Taylor at strawweight.

UFC officials announced the matchup this past week. Ham is coming off of a contentious decision loss to “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings at UFC Fight Night 85 in March. Taylor made her Octagon debut this past month and dropped a razor-thin Split Decision to rising star Maryna “The Iron Woman” Moroz.

Bantamweight prospect Ashlee Evans-Smith picked up her second straight UFC victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 93: “Arlovski vs Barnett” in Hamburg, Germany. Evans-Smith stopped previously undefeated Octagon newcomer Veronica Macedo, who stepped into the fight on very short notice.

Evans-Smith overcame a shaky start on the feet in the opening minute and dominated the remainder of the bout in the clinch and on the mat. She repeatedly thwarted Macedo’s kneebar attempts and ultimately finished the Venezuelan with a barrage of elbow strikes midway through the third round.

In the light heavyweight co-feature, Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson returned to the Octagon to face Jan Blachowicz. Also at 205 pounds, Ryan “Darth” Bader took on Ilir “The Sledgehammer” Latifi, and “Sergeant” Nick Hein battled “The Korean Cowboy” Tae Hyun Bang in lightweight action.
