Strawweight contender Juliana “Ju Thai” Lima steps back into the Octagon in search of her third UFC victory on December 9th at UFC Fight Night 102: “Lewis vs Abdurakhimov” in Albany, New York. Lima is expected to face off against undefeated TUF 23 winner Tatiana Suarez Padilla on the card.
MMAFighting.com first reported on plans for the matchup today. Lima had a two-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of former UFC champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza at UFC 197 in April. Suarez tore through the competition en route to winning The Ultimate Fighter 23 in July.
Former strawweight title challenger Valérie “Trouble” Létourneau looks to return to championship contention when she competes in her home country on December 10th at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Létourneau is set to face former XFC champ Poliana Botelho, who makes her UFC debut.
UFC officials announced the strawweight matchup today. Létourneau drops back down to 115 pounds after suffering a third-round TKO loss to Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood in a one-off flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 89 in June. Botelho has finished three straight foes, and last fought in September 2015.

Brazilian rising star Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade took another step closer to the top of the women’s strawweight division with a quick and decisive win on September 10th at UFC 203: “Miocic vs Overeem” in Cleveland, Ohio. Andrade submitted Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood and vaults up the rankings.
Also at UFC 205, heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic retained his title with a first-round knockout victory over Alistair Overeem. In championship action at Invicta FC 19, reigning titleholders Jennifer Maia and Ayaka Hamasaki each retained gold with hard-fought wins in the night’s featured main events.

Bantamweight prospect Ketlen “Fenômeno” Vieira kept her perfect record intact with a hard-fought Split Decision victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 96: “Lineker vs Dodson” in Portland, Oregon. The unbeaten Brazilian edged out Kelly Faszholz in a competitive matchup on the preliminary card.
Vieira controlled the positional battles on the ground in rounds one and two after catching her opponent’s kicks, but Faszholz was active from her back and she rocked Vieira on the feet in round three. Faszholz’s rally was too little, too late, however, and Vieira walked away with her first UFC win.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to Moda Center in Portland, Oregon tonight for UFC Fight Night 96: “Lineker vs Dodson.” The event was headlined by a five-round bantamweight bout between former 125-pound standouts John “Hands of Stone” Lineker and John “The Magician” Dodson.
In tonight’s lightweight co-main event, former Bellator champion “Ill” Will Brooks battled Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira, who badly failed to make weight. Joshua “The People’s Warrior” Burkman squared off against Zak “The Barbarian” Ottow. MMARising.com has complete results for the card.
Two of the strawweight division’s brightest female prospects will collide in a featured matchup on December 3rd at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hawaiian standout Kailin Curran battles former Invicta FC contender and recent TUF 23 contestant Jamie Moyle on the card.
KHON-TV in Hawaii first reported on plans for the fight this week. Curran finds herself in another potential must-win situation after suffering a quick submission loss to Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig at UFC on FOX 20. Moyle makes her official UFC debut following a solid showing on TUF 23.

Following an unsuccessful title bid in July, Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha aims to get back into UFC championship contention with a win in her home country on November 19th at UFC Fight Night 100: “Bader vs Nogueira” in São Paulo, Brazil. Gadelha faces Cortney “Cast Iron” Casey on the card.
UFC officials announced the strawweight fight today. Gadelha challenged champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk in a rematch at the TUF 23 Finale, but suffered her second decision loss to the unbeaten Polish star. Casey is coming off of back-to-back first-round stoppage wins in a six-week span this summer.

Top-ranked featherweight contender Julia “The Jewel” Budd looks to once again earn her spot in a Bellator title fight with a victory on October 21st at Bellator 162: “Shlemenko vs Grove” in Memphis, Tennessee. Budd is set to battle Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe in 145-pound action on the card.
Bellator officials announced the matchup today. Budd has twice been set to compete for the Bellator Women’s Featherweight Championship, which has yet to be formally established, but injuries derailed plans for both bouts. She brings a six-fight winning streak into next month’s bout with Blencowe.
