Eddie Jackson, Ashley Cummins Retain Titles At Tuff-N-UffLeading amateur promotion Tuff-N-Uff showcased 15 entertaining mixed martial arts bouts on Friday evening at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tuff-N-Uff Welterweight Champion Eddie “Ambien” Jackson successfully defended his title against Lee Henry Lilly in the main event.

The co-feature saw top-ranked prospect Ashley “Smashley” Cummins retain her Tuff-N-Uff 115-pound women’s title with a quick submission victory over Jocelyn “Lights Out” Lybarger. The impressive stoppage moved Cummins’s record to a perfect 8-0, and she remains one of the top stars in Tuff-N-Uff.

Jewels Announces Change To Upcoming Event ScheduleAll-female Japanese promotion Jewels has announced a significant change to its upcoming event schedule. After “12th Ring” was cancelled on March 11th following the massive earthquake near Japan, Jewels will move ahead with 13th Ring and 14th Ring on May 14th at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo.

Both events will be held on the same day and will serve as fundraisers for earthquake reconstruction and relief in the country. 13th Ring will begin at 12:30 P.M. and 14th Ring will follow in the evening at 6:00 P.M. The cards will feature MMA, shoot boxing, kickboxing and grappling matches.

Japan Cup Delayed Again, Two Participants ConfirmedThe eight-man Japan Cup bantamweight tournament, first targeted for April 18th, has been delayed once again. The event will now take place on May 29th at the Saitama Community Arena in Saitama, Japan. MMARising.com learned of the change from a source close to the promotion late Tuesday.

While most of the field remains unknown, MMARising.com has confirmed that WEC veteran Kenji Osawa and former DEEP Featherweight Champion Takafumi Otsuka will both take part. Though he was contacted to compete in the tournament, Hiroshi “Iron” Nakamura has declined to be involved.

Pancrase Announces Women's Bout For May 3rd CardJust one day after her main event victory in Pancrase, Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi has been announced for the promotion’s next event, Impressive Tour 4, on May 3rd. The reigning Valkyrie Featherweight Champion will face eight-year mixed martial arts veteran Akiko “Betiko” Naito in a featured matchup.

The fighters are both coming off of competitive bouts with noted Japanese striker “Windy” Tomomi Sunaba, and both fought to Majority Decisions after two rounds. Naito came up just short against Sunaba last December, while Yamaguchi picked up a close victory this weekend in a spirited bout.

Mei Yamaguchi Edges Tomomi Sunaba In Historic Pancrase Main EventValkyrie Featherweight Champion Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi earned a close and very competitive Majority Decision victory over promotional veteran “Windy” Tomomi Sunaba tonight at Pancrase Impressive Tour 3 in Tokyo, Japan. Scores were 20-20, 20-19 and 20-18 in the Fight of the Night bout.

Competing in Pancrase for the first time, and in the promotion’s first female main event, Yamaguchi controlled much of the opening round with punches and a takedown that led to strikes and submission attempts on the ground. Sunaba rallied in round two, but it was not quite enough to steal the win.

Sarah Kaufman Stops Megumi Yabushita In AFC 5 HeadlinerFormer Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion Sarah Kaufman got back on the winning track with her tenth stoppage victory on Saturday night. Competing in front of her hometown fans, Kaufman stopped Japanese MMA legend Megumi Yabushita in the main event of AFC 5: “Judgment Day.”

Kaufman, who earned a standing ovation from the Victoria crowd, employed an effective strategy of jabs and counterpunches that wore Yabushita down as the fight progressed. Taking advantage of a Yabushita slip in round three, Kaufman rushed in with a flurry of punches to end the one-sided fight.
