Zoila Gurgel Suffers Torn ACL In Training, Out Until 2012Bellator women’s champ Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Gurgel has suffered a significant setback and will be out of action until next year. Gurgel tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee and has been forced to withdraw from a planned bout with Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm at Bellator 57.

Gurgel announced the news earlier today and stated that she expects to undergo surgery soon after an MRI confirmed the severity of the ACL tear. The injury often requires a lengthy recovery time for fighters and Gurgel will likely be sidelined until mid-2012. Damm may still compete on the card.

Georges St. Pierre Injured, Out Of UFC 137 Main EventAn untimely knee injury has forced UFC Welterweight Champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre out of his main event bout with “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit at UFC 137 on October 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carla Esparza vs Felice Herrig Announced For XFC 15Two-time All-American wrestler Carla Esparza will return to action at Xtreme Fighting Championships 15: “Tribute” on December 2nd in Tampa, Florida. The Bellator veteran will battle Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig in a 115-pound matchup. The bout was officially announced by the promotion today.

Esparza suffered a razor-thin Split Decision loss to Jessica “Jag” Aguilar in her most recent bout at Bellator 46 in June. She had won two straight fights prior to the setback. Jessica Aguilar To Rematch Lisa Ellis-Ward At Bellator 58Bellator standouts Jessica “Jag” Aguilar and Lisa Ellis-Ward will face off in a rematch nearly six years in the making at Bellator Fighting Championships 58 on November 19th in Hollywood, Florida. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney officially confirmed the fight with MMARising.com earlier today.

Aguilar and Ellis-Ward first squared off on February 18, 2006 in Aguilar’s pro debut. Ellis-Ward earned a submission victory with mere seconds remaining in round two. Aguilar has never been finished in 14 bouts since and has won six of her last seven fights. Ellis-Ward is 2-1 inside the Bellator cage.
