A near-riot and a number of late changes marred an otherwise entertaining set of fights at Revolution Fighting Champion 1 on Friday night in Beirut, Lebanon. Among the bouts scrapped from the card was a planned women’s matchup between Maiju “Mai” Kujala and Juliana “Thai” Carneiro Lima.

Long-time pound-for-pound standout Tara LaRosa at last has an opponent for Resurrection Fighting Alliance 2: “Yvel vs Alexander” on March 30th in Kearney, Nebraska. LaRosa is set to square off against former NAAFS title challenger Kelly Warren in a featured 125-pound bout on the card.
LaRosa steps back into the cage after a lengthy layoff dating back to a March 2011 submission victory over Carina Damm. The veteran has tasted defeat only once in her past 18 fights spanning close to nine years. Warren looks for an upset after suffering back-to-back defeats in NAAFS bouts.

Two more heavyweight bouts have been added to the upcoming UFC 146: “Dos Santos vs Overeem” card on May 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Former UFC Heavyweight Champions are set to collide as Cain Velasquez looks to rebound from his first professional setback when he battles Frank Mir.
Also announced for the card was a fight between ex-Strikeforce standout Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and one-time IFL champ Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Silva’s three-fight winning streak came to an end at the hands of Daniel Cormier in September. Nelson needs a big win after dropping three of four.

Unbeaten rising star Cat “Alpha” Zingano will move up to the bantamweight division to face Anita “El Tigre” Rodriguez at Invicta Fighting Championships 1 on April 28th in Kansas City, Kansas. MMARising.com confirmed the latest addition to the all-female card with the promotion earlier today.
Zingano returns to action for the first time since May, when she slammed former Strikeforce title challenger Takayo Hashi into unconsciousness. The Colorado native has fought to a decision only one time as a professional. Rodriguez has won five of her past six fights including a victory in January.

An untimely knee injury has forced veteran light heavyweight Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira off of the upcoming UFC on Fuel TV 2 card on April 14th in Stockholm, Sweden. In his place, Thiago Silva has stepped in to face Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson in the night’s main event.
News of Nogueira’s injury was first reported by MMAnytt.se today and UFC officials later confirmed the change. Silva returns after serving a one-year suspension for falsifying a post-fight urine test at UFC 125. Gustafsson has amassed four straight stoppage wins since his lone professional setback.

Russian prospect Yana “Foxy” Kunitskaya posted her fifth straight win on Saturday night at Lion’s Fights 1: “The Beginning” in Saint Petersburg. Kunitskaya earned a hard-fought Unanimous Decision victory over fellow striker Anna Melikhova in an action-packed Fight of the Night battle.
A planned 115-pound title fight between Carla Esparza and Angela Magana was scrapped on just a few hours’ notice from Saturday’s MEZ Sports: “Pandemonium 6” card in Riverside, California. Magana was involved in an automobile accident earlier in the day and could not compete due to injury.

After weeks of pre-fight trash talking, Olympic medallist “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey needed less than one round to capture Strikeforce gold tonight at Strikeforce: “Tate vs Rousey” in Columbus, Ohio. Rousey submitted former champ Miesha “Takedown” Tate with a gruesome armbar in the main event.
The impressive win earned Rousey the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship and solidified her spot as one of MMA’s elite female fighters. She was not the only star on tonight’s card, however, as Sarah Kaufman outlasted fellow Canadian Alexis Davis in a fight of the night candidate.
