Invicta FC's Carla Esparza Preparing For January Title FightCarla Esparza is already one of MMA’s top female fighters. In January, the standout wrestler could become the first Invicta FC champion at 115 pounds in what will be her biggest and most important fight. Esparza is expected to face unbeaten Jewels titleholder Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta FC 4.

For Esparza, the opportunity to compete for the title is both an honour and the culmination of many years of hard work. The two-time All-American has won three straight fights and hopes that a title victory in January could lead to a rematch with former Bellator rival Jessica Aguilar sometime in 2013.

Revelina Berto Returns To Face Stephanie Webber At RFC 28After close to four years away, Revelina “Nana” Berto will make her return to MMA competition on November 17th. The member of the famed Berto fighting family is scheduled to face Strikeforce veteran Stephanie Webber at Real Fighting Championships 28: “Legacy” in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Berto, sister to boxing champ Andre and fellow MMA fighter James Edson, is undefeated in her career and posted three wins in short succession before taking a lengthy hiatus from the sport. Webber is coming off of a submission victory in June and has yet to see round three in her professional career.

Sheila Gaff Withdraws From CWFC Title Bout With Rosi SextonAn illness has forced flyweight Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff out of her Cage Warriors title bout with Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton. Gaff and Sexton were set to face off for the promotion’s inaugural 125-pound women’s title at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 49 on October 27th in Wales.

In an unprecedented move, both fighters enrolled in Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) drug testing leading up to the fight. As a result of costs incurred from the testing, coupled with growing frustrations about steroid use in MMA, Sexton announced that she plans to walk away from the sport.

Shino VanHoose vs Sadae Suzumura Planned For November 10Seventeen-year-old prospect Shino VanHoose returns to the Pancrase ring on November 10th at Pancrase Progress Tour 12 in Tokyo, Japan. The grappling specialist is set to face Sadae “Manhoef” Suzumura in a featured atomweight matchup that was officially announced this past weekend.

VanHoose looks to rebound from her first pro loss in May at the hands of top-ranked atomweight Kikuyo Ishikawa. She had won all three of her fights prior to the setback. Suzumura most recently earned her biggest win to date when she defeated Sachiko “Sachi” Yamamoto at Jewels: “19th Ring.”
