Her opponent has recently changed and she is now set to face off against BJJ black belt Claudia Gadelha in the Invicta FC 6 co-main event.

Hamasaki was scheduled to challenge Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza on next month’s card, but an Esparza knee injury resulted in a change of plans. Despite this, Hamasaki’s goal remains the same and she hopes to fight her way to the title by defeating Gadelha in four weeks.

Joanne Calderwood Now To Face Sarah Schneider At Invicta FC 6Unbeaten Scottish striker Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood once again has an opponent for her featured fight at Invicta Fighting Championships 6 on July 13th in Kansas City, Missouri. Calderwood will now face fellow two-time Invicta FC veteran Sarah “White Tiger” Schneider in a strawweight bout.

MMARising.com confirmed plans for the fight with multiple sources close to the negotiations this afternoon. Calderwood was first set to face Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha, but Gadelha was moved into a fight against Ayaka Hamasaki after Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza sustained a knee injury.

MMA Super Heroes Books Two Women's Grand Prixs For July 13MMA Super Heroes has booked a pair of women’s grand prix tournaments for its inaugural event on July 13th at CEIL Sports Gymnasium in Louveira, São Paulo, Brazil. In one strawweight grand prix bout on the card, standout striker Kinberly Novaes faces off against talented grappler Hérica Tibúrcio.

Two flyweight tournament matchups have also been confirmed for the event. Veteran contender Carina “Barbie” Damm faces Pink Fight champ Kalindra Faria in a rematch from 2009 and unbeaten prospect Bethe Correia faces Juliana Werner Aguiar. All three bouts were announced this past week.

Mei Yamaguchi vs Lorena Klijn Rematch Announced For June 23Shoot Boxing rivals “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi and Lorena “Lady Pitbull” Klijn are set to face off for a second time on June 23rd at Shoot Boxing 2013: Act.3 in Tokyo, Japan. Yamaguchi narrowly defeated Klijn when the fighters first met in the semi-finals of the 2012 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup tournament.

The rematch was officially announced today and both women expressed an interest in challenging three-time Girls S-Cup champion Rena Kubota in the future. Yamaguchi dropped a close decision to Kubota in the finals of the 2012 tournament. Klijn is coming off of a win over Miyo Yoshida in April.

I started fighting when I was 19 after seeing another girl step into the cage, which really inspired me. Nobody had faith in me that I could do it. I was always into girly sports like figure skating, cheerleading and gymnastics, although I’d always wondered what it would be like to box.

I had been to a couple of local fights, but never had I seen a woman do it and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I’d also never even been in a fist fight before, but I did take a self-defense course when I was in college.

Sugiyama has won three straight fights since she returned to the Jewels ring in July. She most recently earned a 61-second TKO victory over South Korean striker Sung Eun Kim at Jewels: “23rd Ring” in March. Yonezawa is coming off of a Unanimous Decision win in a March kickboxing match.
