Undefeated bantamweight star “Alpha” Cat Zingano makes her long-awaited return to the cage on September 27th at UFC 178: “Jones vs Gustafsson 2” in Las Vegas, Nevada. The former number one contender is scheduled to face Amanda “Lioness” Nunes in what will likely serve as a title eliminator.
Yahoo! Sports first reported on the 135-pound bout on Thursday. Zingano has been sidelined since April 2013 due to a serious knee injury and the tragic death of her husband. She stopped Miesha “Cupcake” Tate in her most recent fight. Nunes is 2-0 in the UFC with two first-round TKO wins.

Five more fights have now been added to next month’s Deep Jewels 5 card in Tokyo, Japan. The event is set to take place on August 9th and features the welterweight (125-pound) debut of top star Shizuka Sugiyama, who faces off against South Korean striker Hyo Kyung Song in a featured bout.
Deep Jewels officials confirmed the Sugiyama-Song fight earlier today along with four additional matchups. In MMA action, grappling ace Yuko “Amiba” Oya clashes with unbeaten prospect Sachiko Fujimori, and 42-fight veteran Masako Yoshida takes on undefeated submission specialist Mina Kurobe.

This year’s Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup event will once again include two separate tournaments featuring many of the top female shoot boxers and kickboxers in the world. The 2014 tournaments are set to take place on August 2nd at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
Highly-touted prospect Yukari Yamaguchi will participate in a four-woman all-Japan Girls S-Cup tournament. Yamaguchi joins two-time JKS48 champ Mio Tsumura and “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi in the 48kg Girls S-Cup. The August 2nd event also includes a worldwide Girls S-Cup featuring Rena Kubota.

TUF 18 semi-finalist Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras earned a hard-fought win in her official Octagon debut tonight at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moras outpointed Alexis “Sneaky Zebra” Dufresne, who missed weight by eight pounds for the planned bantamweight bout.
Moras was active with strikes and submission attempts throughout the fight, even when she was forced to work from her back. Dufresne landed ground and pound in the final round and avoided more of Moras’s submissions, but Moras’s offence in the opening ten minutes propelled her to a close victory.

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey wasted absolutely no time in securing her latest highlight-reel victory tonight at UFC 175: “Weidman vs Machida” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rousey retained her UFC title by knocking out Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis in a mere 16 seconds.
Just as she did against past opponents Sarah Kaufman and Sara McMann, Rousey prevented Davis from getting anything going right from the outset of the fight. She threw the challenger on her head and unloaded with punches on the ground until the brief bout was waved off just as quickly as it began.

The Ultimate Fighter 20 begins filming this week and the latest season’s all-female cast has now been fully revealed. For the first time in the show’s lengthy history, TUF 20 will determine a titleholder when the tournament winner is crowned as the inaugural UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion.
Among those participating in the competition are former Invicta FC champs Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza and Jessica Penne. Joining them is rising star Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres, Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood and 12 others all hoping to become the UFC’s first 115-pound female champion.
