Former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Lauren Murphy has received a new opponent for her upcoming bout on Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 83: “Cerrone vs Oliveira” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Murphy now faces off against unbeaten UFC newcomer Kelly Faszholz on the preliminary card.
UFC officials confirmed the change today. Murphy was originally slated to battle TUF 18 semi-finalist Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras, who was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Murphy most recently dropped a controversial decision in April, while Faszholz earned a submission win in November.

After a disappointing UFC debut in August, former WSOF champion Jessica “Jag” Aguilar looks for a much-needed victory on April 23rd in a strawweight matchup at UFC 197: “Cormier vs Jones 2” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aguilar is set to face off against Brazilian standout Juliana “Ju Thai” Lima on the card.
UFC officials announced the fight today. Aguilar, who famously declared that she had “decided to become UFC champion” this past year, dropped a lopsided Unanimous Decision to Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha at UFC 190. Lima has won back-to-back fights and hopes to enter UFC title contention.

A second women’s bout has been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 85: “Hunt vs Mir” event on March 20th in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Former Invicta FC contender Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith battles Queen of Pancrase Rin Nakai in bantamweight action on the preliminary card.
UFC officials announced the matchup on Wednesday. Smith has not fought since suffering a gruesome ear injury in her loss to Jessica “Evil” Eye at UFC 180 in November 2014. Likewise, Nakai sat out all of 2015 after she was defeated in her September 2014 UFC debut by Miesha “Cupcake” Tate.

Deep Jewels Atomweight Champion “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi seeks her first victory inside the PXC cage when she competes on March 18th at Pacific Xtreme Combat 52 in Mangilao, Guam. Yamaguchi faces off against skilled prospect Tessa “The Typhoon” Simpson in a featured 105-pound matchup.
PXC officials confirmed the bout this week following announcements from both fighters. Yamaguchi’s previous two appearances for PXC both ended in controversial Split Decision losses, but she racked up three straight wins this past year. Simpson most recently defeated Paulina “Firefox” Granados.

XFC officials announced the 125-pound bout earlier this week. Werner succumbed to a second-round kneebar from Julia Berezikova in her most recent fight at XFC International 9. Gomez Juarez also seeks redemption after suffering her first defeat in an XFCi flyweight title bout in September.

Undefeated rising star Angela “Unstoppable” Lee looks to keep her perfect record intact when she competes on February 20th at ONE Championship 38: “Tribe of Warriors” in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 19-year-old is set to face Rebecca “The Professor” Heintzman in a 120-pound catchweight bout.

Former Deep Women’s Lightweight Champion Hisae Watanabe made a triumphant return to MMA action tonight at World Series of Fighting Global Championship 2 in Tokyo, Japan. Competing for the first time since late 2007, Watanabe stopped Ye Ji Lee in round two of an atomweight bout.
Watanabe’s lengthy hiatus from the sport did not appear to have an impact on her power, and she picked up her 12th knockout victory with tonight’s stoppage. Also on the card, Anna Bezhenar took a Unanimous Decision victory over the previously unbeaten May Ooi in a strawweight matchup.

Undefeated strawweight standout Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres faces a familiar foe on April 16th at UFC on FOX 19: “Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson” in Tampa, Florida. Torres is set to face off against TUF 20 finalist “Thug” Rose Namajunas in a featured rematch on the FOX-televised main card.
UFC officials announced the matchup tonight following an initial report from MMAFighting.com this week. Torres handed Namajunas her first pro loss in the pair’s initial meeting at Invicta FC 6 in July 2013. Namajunas rebounded from her UFC title loss in late 2014 with back-to-back wins this past year.
