Demian Maia vs Neil Magny

Round 1:
Maia dragged Magny down right away and looked to set up a mounted triangle choke. Magny got back to half-guard and Maia landed punches from the top. He eventually mounted Magny again and rained down punches. Big elbows scored for Maia and he hunted for an armbar. Magny defended and made it to the bell. 10-8 Maia.

Round 2:
Maia easily took Magny down again in the second round and he fought off an inverted triangle choke en route to mounting Magny again. Magny gave up his back and Maia trapped him in a body triangle. He locked on a rear-naked choke and Magny was forced to submit.

Winner: Demian Maia by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:52 of round two. He improves to 21-6-0.

 

Patrick “Durkin” Cummins vs Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante

Round 1:
Cummins took Cavalcante down right away, but he could not keep him there for long. Cavalcante stood and Cummins slammed him down two more times. Cavalcante immediately returned to his feet, but Cummins took him down again and worked from back control. The fighters stood and Cummins landed a knee before backing away. He momentarily dragged Cavalcante down and right hooks were exchanged after the fight returned to the feet. Cummins’s face swelled up from Cavalcante’s punches, but he kept the pressure on and landed a right hand late in the close round. 10-9 Cummins.

Round 2:
Cavalcante bloodied Cummins’s nose with a short counter hook in round two, but Cummins clinched and held him against the cage. Cavalcante broke free and landed a nice right hand. Cummins shot in and took him down, then postured up with punches from the top. He landed some harder shots, but Cavalcante countered with an upkick after Cummins stood over him. Time was called to check on Cummins’s damaged nose, but action resumed and Cavalcante was clearly fatigued. Cummins took him down and finished the round with ground and pound. 10-9 Cummins.

Round 3:
Cummins took an exhausted Cavalcante down early in the final round and he postured up with punches from the top while pinning Cavalcante against the base of the cage. Cummins dropped a series of unanswered elbows and Cavalcante offered nothing in return, forcing referee Mario Yamasaki to stop the fight.

Winner: Patrick Cummins by TKO (Elbows) at 0:45 of round three. He improves to 8-2-0.

 

Warlley Alves vs Nordine Taleb

Round 1:
Alves caught a kick and took Taleb down in the opening seconds of the fight. Taleb tried to scramble back to full guard, but Alves landed elbows from the top and he nearly passed to side control. Taleb scrambled up and Alves landed a lead left hook. Taleb connected with two right hands and Alves answered with one of his own. He dropped Taleb with a looping right hook to the temple. Taleb stood and tried for a takedown, but Alves stepped free. Taleb clinched and landed knees to the body. 10-9 Alves.

Round 2:
Taleb opened the action with leg kicks in round two, but Alves caught a body kick and took him down again. He landed short punches and elbows from the top in Taleb’s half-guard. Taleb eventually battled back to his feet and worked for a takedown against the cage, but Alves jumped guard with a tight guillotine choke. Taleb had nowhere to go and tapped out.

Winner: Warlley Alves by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:11 of round two. He improves to 9-0-0.

 

Iuri “Marajo” Alcantara vs Leandro “Brodinho” Issa

Round 1:
Alcantara rushed forward with power punches right away and Issa circled to the side. A one-two and a knee scored for Alcantara, and he tried to lock on an inverted triangle choke after countering a takedown. Issa wound up on top in Alcantara’s guard after a scramble, and he passed to side control soon after. Issa trapped both of Alcantara’s arms in a top-side crucifix and worked for a kimura, but Alcantara escaped and countered with an armbar. Issa landed elbows from the top and passed to mount. He dropped more elbows and punches before the bell. 10-9 Issa.

Round 2:
Alcantara knocked Issa down with a left hook early in round two and he continued to dominate the striking exchanges with kicks after Issa returned to his feet. Issa countered body kicks from Alcantara by shooting in for a takedown. Alcantara briefly reversed into mount and he wound up in an inverted triangle choke position again. Issa freed himself and pinned Alcantara against the fence until the fighters were separated. Alcantara landed a left cross and he dropped Issa with more punches. Issa recovered and scrambled up to his feet, only to be tagged by another left cross. 10-9 Alcantara.

Round 3:
Issa shot in for an early takedown in the final round and he eventually dragged Alcantara down. Alcantara countered with elbows and quickly stood up. He stunned Issa with a left cross and stuffed a takedown. Alcantara kicked to the body and bloodied Issa’s nose with a combination. He reversed a takedown and threatened with a kimura, then blasted Issa with punches from the top. The fighters stood and Alcantara landed punch-kick combos. He dropped Issa with a head kick that landed near the knee. Issa stood and Alcantara landed another head kick. 10-9 Alcantara.

Winner: Iuri Alcantara by Unanimous Decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 32-6-0, 1 NC.

 

Undercard Fights:

– Vitor “Lex Luthor” Miranda defeated Clint “Headbussa” Hester by TKO (Punches & Elbows) at 2:38 of round two. He improves to 11-4-0 with the win.

– Guido “Ninja” Cannetti defeated Hugo “Wolverine” Viana by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 7-2-0 with the win.
