Sergio “The Phenom” Pettis vs Yaotzin Meza

Round 1:
Pettis kept his distance and landed quick jabs and leg kicks throughout the opening three minutes. Meza landed kicks in return and followed with a one-two. Pettis landed more leg kicks and Meza countered with a grazing uppercut. The crowd booed the lack of sustained actiom and Pettis attempted a cartwheel kick. Uneventful first round. 10-9 Pettis.

Round 2:
Meza looked to counter Pettis’s kicks with a takedown in the second round, but Pettis sprawled and stuffed it. The crowd continued to voice its displeasure with the lacklustre fight as neither man was willing to commit to any offence. Pettis finally landed a one-two and Meza responded with a solid two-punch combo of his own that bloodied Pettis’s nose. Pettis kicked at Meza’s lead leg and hurt him with a head kick. He followed with punches, but Meza recovered and circled out before the bell. 10-9 Pettis.

Round 3:
Pettis once again stayed on the outside in round three and picked his shots with leg kicks and quick right hands. The displeased crowd booed the sparse action for close to four minutes until Meza finally clinched and backed Pettis up to the cage. He got Pettis down against the fence, but Pettis countered with an omoplata and kept him trapped until just before the bell. 10-9 Pettis.

Winner: Sergio Pettis by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 11-1-0.

 

Lance Benoist vs “Vicious” Bobby Voelker

Round 1:
Benoist initiated a clinch early on and landed short strikes in close. Voelker broke free and Benoist landed a body kick. Quick punches were exchanged and Benoist landed another hard kick to the midsection. Voelker pressed forward and ate a pair of hooks for his efforts. Benoist took him down and landed a series of punches with his left hand. He moved to side control and worked for a keylock as Voelker kicked off of the cage. In the final seconds of the round, Voelker swept into Benoist’s guard and landed a handful of punches. 10-9 Benoist.

Round 2:
Benoist landed a head kick and worked for another takedown in the second round, but Voelker defended well against the cage. The fighters were separated and Voelker connected with a nice combination. Benoist began to slow down and Voelker took advantage by scoring a takedown. He landed ground and pound from the top until the end of the round. 10-9 Voelker.

Round 3:
Voelker opened round three with left and right hooks that prompted Benoist to clinch in search of a takedown. Voelker countered with a knee, but fell in the process and Benoist held him against the fence again. A tired Voelker fired off wild hooks and tried to throw Benoist to the canvas, but Benoist reversed on the way down and wound up on top. He mounted Voelker and cut him with a series of elbows. Voelker rolled over and tried to kick off of the cage. Benoist attempted a triangle choke in a scramble and the fight ended with Voelker on top. 10-9 Benoist.

Winner: Lance Benoist by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 7-2-0.

 

Scott “Young Guns” Jorgensen vs Danny “The Gremlin” Martinez

Round 1:
Martinez was aggressive with left hooks and knees early in the fight. Jorgensen countered with two takedowns and took his back on both occasions. Jorgensen tried for a rear-naked choke and he slammed Martinez back down after Martinez briefly stood up. A big right hand landed for Jorgensen on the ground and he kept the pressure on with punches. Martinez scrambled free and rolled, but Jorgensen blasted him with another right hand. He tried for a guillotine choke and the round ended on the feet. 10-9 Jorgensen.

Round 2:
Martinez flurried with punches in the second round and he dropped Jorgensen with a lead left hook. Jorgensen weathered the storm and got back to his feet, but he ate a knee and more punches in the clinch. Martinez continued to score with left hooks and Jorgensen answered with a knee. Martinez clinched and landed an uppercut. The fighters traded standing elbows and Jorgensen backed a fatigued Martinez up with a combination. Jorgensen scored two takedowns and transitioned to Martinez’s back. He landed short punches until the bell. Very close round. 10-9 Martinez.

Round 3:
Jorgensen jumped in with a knee to the body and a right hook in round three. He took Martinez down and worked from side control. Martinez scrambled up and escaped from a kimura attempt. He landed a flying knee and Jorgensen took him back down. Martinez battled back up only to be taken down again. In the final minute, the fighters traded power punches and Martinez rocked Jorgensen with a looping left hook. He followed with standing elbows until Jorgensen took him down. Jorgensen finished the fight on top in Martinez’s guard. 10-9 Jorgensen.

Winner: Scott Jorgensen by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 15-9-0.

 

Jon “The Super Saiyan” Tuck vs Jake “The Librarian” Lindsey

Round 1:
Tuck opened the fight with a nice right hand and he clinched soon after. The fighters separated and exchanged hard punches. Both men landed, but Tuck got the better of the exchange and he stunned Lindsey with a looping hook. Lindsey clinched and recovered, but Tuck scored with a lead left hook. Lindsey answered back with an overhand right and a knee. Tuck took Lindsey down and worked from the top in half-guard until referee Raul Porrata stood the fighters up for no reason. The round ended in the clinch with an exchange of knees and short uppercuts. 10-9 Tuck.

Round 2:
Lindsey countered Tuck’s aggression in round two by pinning him against the cage. He landed short strikes until Tuck broke free. Tuck slowed down as the fighters traded jabs and Lindsey held him against the fence once more. After the break, Lindsey landed body kicks and Tuck replied with a right cross to the liver. He took Lindsey down and landed punches as the fight returned to the feet. In the final seconds of the round, Tuck landed uppercuts in the clinch and Lindsey countered with knees. Close round. 10-9 Tuck.

Round 3:
Tuck scored with a hard right hook in round three and he took Lindsey down into half-guard. From the top, Tuck used a keylock attempt to set up a move to mount and he landed punches as Lindsey rolled to his side. Tuck tried for an armbar from S-mount and he took full back control. Lindsey defended against Tuck’s rear-naked choke attempts, but Tuck landed a heel kick to the lower rib cage and Lindsey immediately tapped out.

Winner: Jon Tuck by Submission (Kick To The Body) at 2:47 of round three. He improves to 8-1-0.

 

Patrick “Durkin” Cummins vs Roger “The Silverback” Narvaez

Round 1:
Cummins pinned Narvaez against the fence in the opening round and he looked for a takedown soon after. He threw Narvaez to the canvas and tried to pass his guard. Narvaez countered Cummins’s punches with upkicks and he returned to his feet. Cummins took him back down and postured up with punches from the top. He cut Narvaez near the eye in the final seconds of the round. 10-9 Cummins.

Round 2:
Big punches were exchanged in round two and Cummins tried to clinch. He got Narvaez down on his second try and rained down hammerfists. Narvaez got to his knees and Cummins landed punches. Narvaez fell to his back and rolled to his side as Cummins unloaded with punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Patrick Cummins by TKO (Punches) at 2:28 of round two. He improves to 5-1-0.
