Max “Blessed” Holloway vs Will “The Kill” Chope
Round 1:
Holloway attempted spinning back kicks in the opening round and he countered punches from Chope with a stiff jab. Chope landed jabs of his own and Holloway’s nose began to bleed. Punches were exchanged and Chope just missed with a knee. Chope pressed the action with punches and a leg kick, but Holloway countered with a knee and he backed Chope up with a flurry of punches. The fighters clinched briefly and Holloway dropped Chope with a barrage of punches and two knees to the body just before the bell. 10-9 Holloway.
Round 2:
Holloway rocked Chope with a right hook in round two and he followed with more punches and a knee. A spinning back kick to the body scored for Holloway and he hurt Chope again with more punches. Holloway broke free of a clinch and he dropped Chope with a final flurry of punches to the head and body that forced referee Leon Roberts to stop the fight.
Winner: Max Holloway by TKO (Punches) at 2:27 of round two. He improves to 8-3-0.
Katsunori Kikuno vs Quinn Mulhern
Round 1:
Kikuno avoided kicks from Mulhern and landed a flurry of punches early in the fight. Mulhern shot in and pulled guard, then tried for an omoplata. Kikuno stood and Mulhern followed. An uppercut and a body kick scored for Kikuno and he stuffed another takedown. Mulhern pulled guard once again, but Kikuno stood and forced him to follow. Mulhern landed a combination and attempted head kicks. He pulled guard for a third time late in the round. 10-9 Kikuno.
Round 2:
Mulhern slipped while throwing a kick in round two and fell to the ground. He fought back to his feet and shot in for a takedown, but wound up on the bottom. Kikuno struck from the top and returned to his feet. He landed a lunging one-two and a counter kick, then sprawled out of a takedown. The round ended with Kikuno on top. 10-9 Kikuno.
Round 3:
Mulhern pulled half-guard to begin the final round and Kikuno made him pay with punches from the top. He moved to side control and got back to his feet. Mulhern attempted sloppy takedowns and was forced to pull guard again. The fighters were stood up and Kikuno landed two right hands. Mulhern flopped to his back and Kikuno forced him to stand. Kikuno landed a body kick and clinched. He threw Mulhern to the mat in the final seconds. 10-9 Kikuno.
Winner: Katsunori Kikuno by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 22-5-2.
Royston Wee vs Dave “Scarecrow” Galera
Round 1:
Wee took Galera down immediately and he used ground and pound to fight off a triangle choke attempt. Galera used a guillotine choke to briefly sweep into mount, but Wee reversed and worked from the top once again. He cut Galera with short strikes, but Galera remained active from his back and he landed slashing elbows. Wee continued to strike from Galera’s guard until the bell. 10-9 Wee.
Round 2:
Wee countered a body kick by taking Galera down again in round two. He moved to side control, but Galera got back to full guard. Wee pinned Galera down, but he landed few strikes and Galera was active from the bottom. He stood and landed a knee, then tried for a guillotine choke. Wee countered by taking him back down and he finished the uneventful round on top. 10-9 Wee.
Round 3:
Galera landed a big knee in the final round, but Wee countered with another takedown. He worked from the top until Galera landed a powerful but completely illegal upkick to the face while both fighters were down. Time was called and Galera was docked one point. The fight continued and Wee slammed Galera down on his head. Galera looked for a kimura from his back, but Wee escaped and closed out the lacklustre fight on top. 10-8 Wee.
Winner: Royston Wee by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) after three rounds. He improves to 3-0-0.
Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov vs Tae Hyun “Supernatural” Bang
Round 1:
The fighters traded punches early on and Bang looked to counter leg kicks from Taisumov with left hands. More kicks scored for Taisumov and the fighters exchanged flurries again. Taisumov attempted a head kick and landed a right hook. Bang tried for a flying switch knee and Taisumov countered with a combination. A huge right hand landed for Taisumov and he continued to throw head kicks. 10-9 Taisumov.
Round 2:
Taisumov landed quick kicks to the lead leg and body in the second round. He tripped Bang to the mat, but Bang scrambled back to his feet. Taisumov landed more body kicks as the round progressed and he attempted another takedown, but Bang stayed up. A standing elbow and another kick scored for Taisumov before the bell. 10-9 Taisumov.
Round 3:
Taisumov scored an emphatic takedown to begin the final round and he struck from the top until Bang battled back to his feet against the cage. Taisumov slammed him down again and pinned Bang’s arm behind his back. He landed punches with his feet hand, but Bang pulled his arm free and got back to guard. He stood up and ate a leg kick from Taisumov, who landed an uppercut soon after. Taisumov threw Bang to the mat once more before the bell. 10-9 Taisumov.
Winner: Mairbek Taisumov by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 21-4-0.
Dustin “The Diamond” Kimura vs Jon “The Heat” delos Reyes
Round 1:
Delos Reyes dropped Kimura with a flurry of punches in the opening seconds and he avoided a heel hook attempt on the ground. From the top, delos Reyes dropped punches and Kimura transitioned from an omoplata to an armbar. He used the armbar to flatten delos Reyes out and delos Reyes was forced to submit.
Winner: Dustin Kimura by Submission (Armbar) at 2:13 of round one. He improves to 11-1-0.
Russell Doane vs Leandro “Brodinho” Issa
Round 1:
Issa secured an early takedown, but Doane reversed and escaped to his feet. He landed some nice right hands, but Issa took him back down into half-guard. Doane countered again and took Issa’s back, then scored with punches from back control. Issa scrambled into a tight triangle choke, but Doane refused to submit. Issa continued to tighten the choke, but Doane held on until the bell. Good first round. 10-9 Issa.
Round 2:
Doane landed an overhand right early in the second round and he fought off a takedown attempt against the cage. The fighters were separated and Doane landed more right hands. Issa landed leg kicks, but Doane rocked him with overhand rights. He stunned Issa again with more punches and sprawled out of a desperation takedown. Doane wound up on top in a top-side crucifix position. He cut Issa with elbows and transitioned from an armbar to a triangle choke. Issa tried to hold on, but he was rendered unconscious just as the bell sounded.
Winner: Russell Doane by Technical Submission (Triangle Choke) at 4:59 of round two. He improves to 13-3-0.
