Rustam “Tiger” Khabilov vs Yancy “Frisson” Medeiros
Round 1:
Medeiros kept his distance and landed quick punches and kicks in the opening minute. Khabilov caught a kick and took Medeiros down. Medeiros stood and Khabilov suplexed him back down. Medeiros posted with his hand on the way down and landed awkwardly on his thumb. He scrambled up and briefly took Khabilov’s back. The fighters separated and time was called after Medeiros pointed to his thumb. Referee Dan Miragliotta consulted with the cageside physician, who advised him to stop the fight.
Winner: Rustam Khabilov by TKO (Dislocated Thumb) at 2:32 of round one. He improves to 16-1-0.
Ovince St. Preux vs Gian Villante
Round 1:
Villante caught a kick and tried for a takedown early on. He backed St. Preux up to the cage, but could not get him down. The fighters traded strikes and St. Preux rocked Villante with a big combination. He followed with more punches, but Villante recovered and clinched in search of a takedown. St. Preux landed a knee to the body and stayed on his feet. He landed another nice combination and a kick to the upper body in the final seconds of the round. 10-9 St. Preux.
Round 2:
Villante scored with a hard leg kick in round two and he continued to target St. Preux’s legs. St. Preux punched to the body, but he slowed way down and Villante easily fought off a takedown attempt. Villante picked his shots with quick punches and leg kicks. St. Preux finally connected with a left hook. Villante jabbed and St. Preux walked forward with three punches as the lacklustre round came to a close. 10-9 Villante.
Round 3:
Villante was poked in the eye early in round three and informed referee Kevin Mulhall that he could not see. Upon hearing this, Mulhall immediately waved off the fight. Villante protested and requested time to recover, but the fight had already been stopped.
Winner: Ovince St. Preux by Majority Technical Decision (30-28, 30-29, 29-29) after three rounds. He improves to 13-5-0.
Sara McMann vs Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff
Round 1:
Gaff ran forward right away and McMann immediately took her down. McMann punched to the body from Gaff’s guard and attempted a can opener submission. Gaff held on and referee Gasper Oliver stood the fighters up. McMann clinched and Gaff landed knees to the body. McMann took her down and landed on top in side control. She moved to a top-side crucifix and landed elbows. Gaff tried to buck to escape, but she could not. McMann landed numerous punches with her right hand until the fight was stopped.
Winner: Sara McMann by TKO (Punches) at 4:06 of round one. She improves to 7-0-0.
Bryan “Kid Lightning” Caraway vs Johnny “Brutal” Bedford
Round 1:
Bedford landed right hooks early in the fight and stuffed a takedown. He kicked to the body and Caraway answered with a jab. Bedford flurried with punches and Caraway took his back. He pulled him down to the mat and landed punches while trying to set up a rear-naked choke. The fighters scrambled up to their feet and Bedford countered two left hands from Caraway with a body kick and a one-two. Bedford landed more punches, but ate an uppercut. A hard combination scored for Bedford late in the round and Caraway took him down. Close round. 10-9 Bedford.
Round 2:
Both fighters landed short hooks in round two and Bedford backed Caraway up to the cage. He landed a right hand and a knee to the body. Left hooks and a chopping leg kick scored for Bedford and Caraway looked for a takedown. Bedford threw left hooks to the head and body and Caraway responded with a step-in left. More punches were exchanged and Caraway took Bedford down. He moved to half-guard and then to side control, landing elbows along the way. Caraway stood and landed a right hand to a downed Bedford before the bell. 10-9 Caraway.
Round 3:
Single jabs and hooks were exchanged in the opening minute of round three. Bedford threw looping hooks that missed their mark. Caraway clinched and landed an uppercut. He took Bedford down, but Bedford reversed. Caraway swept back into top position and fought off a triangle choke and an armbar. Caraway escaped and struck from the top in half-guard. He secured a guillotine choke from the top and rolled over. When Bedford did not submit, Caraway rolled the guillotine over into mount and Bedford tapped out.
Winner: Bryan Caraway by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:44 of round three. He improves to 18-6-0.
Cody “AK Kid” McKenzie vs Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia
Round 1:
McKenzie scored a takedown right away and eventually transitioned to Garcia’s back. Garcia punched backwards as McKenzie looked to set up a rear-naked choke. He kept Garcia trapped inside a body triangle. McKenzie continued to hunt for rear-naked chokes until Garcia tried to turn into his guard. McKenzie used an arm-triangle choke to move into top position. He landed punches as Garcia attempted to stand up. McKenzie kept him down and locked on a triangle choke from mount. He rolled over and tightened the choke, but time expired. 10-9 McKenzie, if not a 10-8.
Round 2:
McKenzie secured another takedown in round two and held Garcia down against the cage. Garcia fought off a guillotine choke and fought back to his feet. He landed a body kick and briefly looked for a guillotine choke as the fighters clinched against the fence. McKenzie took Garcia down and transitioned to back control. He locked on another body triangle and punched until the end of the round. 10-9 McKenzie.
Round 3:
Garcia opened the action in round three with a combination and a kick to the upper body. He missed with a spinning backfist and stuffed a takedown. Both fighters landed body kicks as the pace slowed. Garcia missed with wild punches and ate a counter hook. McKenzie scored with a knee to the body and Garcia answered with a kick. McKenzie kicked from a distance and landed two left hooks. He took Garcia down and scored with short elbows from the top. 10-9 McKenzie.
Winner: Cody McKenzie by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 14-3-0.
“Super” Steven Siler vs Kurt Holobaugh
Round 1:
Both fighters were aggressive with punches right away and Siler landed knees in the clinch. Holobaugh punched to the body to try to escape the clinch, but Siler landed more knees. Siler threw Holobaugh to the ground and took his back. Siler punched from back control and bloodied Holobaugh’s mouth. He locked on a rear-naked choke, but Holobaugh somehow held on and survived. Siler let the choke go and punched until the end of the round. 10-9 Siler.
Round 2:
Holobaugh tried to pull guard with a guillotine choke in round two. Siler escaped, but Holobaugh landed elbows and worked for a triangle choke. Holobaugh scrambled to his feet and he took Siler down. Siler swept and got back to his feet. Holobaugh rocked him with a hook and dragged him to the ground with another guillotine choke. Siler escaped and landed upkicks.
Holobaugh dropped three big punches onto the face of Siler and followed with elbows. Siler used rubber guard to tie Holobaugh up and the fighters eventually returned to their feet. Big punches and leg kicks were exchanged and Holobaugh landed a hard right hook. Siler attempted a takedown, but wound up on the bottom and Holobaugh landed punches to the leg. 10-9 Holobaugh.
Round 3:
The final round began with an exchange of right hooks and Siler followed with knees in close. A battle for position ensued against the cage. Siler created space with a standing elbow and a right hook. Holobaugh countered by taking Siler down and attempting to move to back control. Siler reversed into mount and then took Holobaugh’s back. Siler tried for a rear-naked choke and landed punches until the bell. 10-9 Siler.
Winner: Steven Siler by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 22-10-0.
