Evan Dunham vs Gleison Tibau
Round 1:
Tibau landed quick counterpunches each time Dunham closed the distance in round one, but Dunham scored with a one-two that set off an exchange of power punches. Both fighters landed hard shots and Tibau took Dunham down. He locked on a guillotine choke and pulled guard, then rolled through into top position. Dunham got to his knees and Tibau held him down.
Dunham managed to stand and Tibau landed a left cross as Dunham backed away. Dunham attempted a flying knee and Tibau countered with a looping hook. Dunham jabbed and landed a right hook, then clinched against the cage. Tibau reversed and pinned Dunham up against the fence. The fighters battled for position until the bell. 10-9 Tibau.
Round 2:
Tibau slowed down in round two and Dunham began to establish his jab. One-twos landed for both fighters and Dunham briefly took Tibau down. Tibau stood and Dunham threw two punches as he backed away from the clinch. Dunham shrugged off a takedown attempt and landed two hooks. Tibau stuffed a takedown and pressed forward, but Dunham countered with jabs. Tibau missed with a flurry and Dunham landed more counters. 10-9 Dunham.
Round 3:
Tibau countered a takedown with a guillotine choke in the final round. Dunham stood back up and the fighters battled in the clinch before separating. Dunham landed a one-two and attempted a head kick. A counter right dropped Tibau to a knee. He stood and tried unsuccessfully for a takedown. Dunham began to take over the striking exchanges with jabs and quick punches.
Neither fighter to could take the other down, but Dunham landed a hard knee in the clinch and followed with more stiff jabs. Dunham avoided a takedown and landed hooks and jabs. Tibau defended against a Dunham takedown and landed a knee to the body. A flying switch knee stunned Tibau in the final seconds and Dunham landed another one before the bell. 10-9 Dunham.
Winner: Evan Dunham by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 14-3-0.
Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley vs Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron
Round 1:
Woodley dropped Hieron with a lunging right hand just seconds into the fight. Hieron fell to his knees and Woodley unloaded with punches from the back. Hieron rolled forward and Woodley continued to tee off with punches until Hieron was out cold. Extremely impressive win for Woodley.
Winner: Tyron Woodley by KO (Punches) at 0:36 of round one. He improves to 11-1-0.
Bobby “King” Green vs Jacob “Christmas” Volkmann
Round 1:
Green landed kicks to the lead leg and upper body in the opening minute. He followed with a kick to the stomach and stuffed a takedown, but Volkmann maintained his grip and dragged Green down to the mat. Volkmann moved from the back to half-guard and punched from the top. Volkmann stood and held onto Green’s right leg. Volkmann dropped back down to the mat and transitioned to Green’s back. He worked for rear-naked chokes and neck cranks until the end of the round. 10-9 Volkmann.
Round 2:
Volkmann ducked into a knee as he attempted a takedown in round two, but regained his footing and tried for a standing guillotine choke. Green escaped and kneed from the clinch. He avoided a takedown and Volkmann flopped to his back. Green dove into Volkmann’s guard and landed two right hands. He moved to half-guard and threw short elbows.
Green landed more elbows from the top that cut Volkmann. Referee Kim Winslow stood the fighters up for no reason and Volkmann countered a kick by clinching and dragging Green to the mat. He maintained back control on the ground, but was unable to secure a submission before the bell. 10-9 Green.
Round 3:
Green stuffed a takedown in the final round and landed a knee. Time was called after he was kicked in the groin. After the restart, Green reversed a takedown and landed in North-South position. He moved to side control and Volkmann fought back to half-guard. He scrambled up to his feet as Green landed punches.
Valkmann countered a kick with a takedown, but Green immediately reversed. Volkmann scrambled and took his back on the mat against the cage. Green rolled over into Volkmann’s guard and then moved to mount. He rained down punches and elbows that cut Volkmann again. Volkmann gave up his back and Green quickly locked on a rear-naked choke that forced Volkmann to submit.
Winner: Bobby Green by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:25 of round three. He improves to 20-5-0.
Isaac Vallie-Flagg vs Yves “Thugjitsu Master” Edwards
Round 1:
Vallie-Flagg landed a nice body kick to open the fight and Edwards answered with an uppercut. Vallie-Flagg continued to target the body and Edwards flurried with punches. A left cross and a head kick partially landed for Edwards and he avoided Vallie-Flagg’s counters. Vallie Flagg landed a right cross and clinched, where he threw knees to the body. Edwards broke away from the clinch with a head kick and dropped Vallie-Flagg to a knee with a leg kick.
Vallie-Flagg clinched and landed a series of uppercuts and short hooks. Edwards countered Vallie-Flagg’s punches with leg kicks and knees. Vallie-Flagg remained effective with uppercuts in close, however, and he caught a hard body kick from Edwards. Balancing on one leg, Edwards landed a jumping knee and circled away from a clinch. Vallie-Flagg pressed forward with punches and Edwards countered until the bell. Close opening round. 10-9 Vallie-Flagg, barely.
Round 2:
The fighters exchanged strikes in the opening minute of round two and Vallie-Flagg was aggressive with punches. After a brief clinch, Edwards swept out Vallie-Flagg’s leg and tripped him to the mat. He moved from half-guard to side control and then transitioned to Vallie-Flagg’s back. Edwards worked to set up a rear-naked choke and nearly got it in the final seconds, but Vallie-Flagg tucked his chin and escaped before the bell. 10-9 Edwards.
Round 3:
Vallie-Flagg pressed forward again in round three with right hands and one-twos. Edwards answered with a nice combination and an uppercut. Vallie-Flagg walked forward with punches and body kicks, but Edwards landed a knee to the body. In the clinch, Vallie-Flagg held Edwards up against the cage, but Edwards circled out and landed a hard one-two.
Vallie-Flagg landed an overhand right and a body kick, then backed Edwards up with a knee. Edwards tried for a takedown and Vallie-Flagg stuffed it. Edwards landed a combination, but Vallie-Flagg appeared to hurt him with a body shot and more punches. Vallie-Flagg threw a front kick to the body and Edwards flurried with punches. The fight ended with an exchange of punches and front kicks. 10-9 Vallie-Flagg.
Winner: Isaac Vallie-Flagg by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 14-3-1.
Dustin “The Diamond” Kimura vs Chico “King” Camus
Round 1:
Kimura landed hard punches early in the fight and jumped into guard as Camus closed in. Kimura looked to set up a triangle choke and continued to hunt for submissions from his back as Camus moved him to the base of the cage. Kimura used an omoplata to roll into top position. He took Camus’s back, but Camus was able to reverse into Kimura’s guard. Kimura worked for armbars and more submissions from his back until the end of the round. 10-9 Kimura.
Round 2:
Camus was light on his feet in round two and picked his shots with leg kicks and quick punches. He circled around and continued to kick at Kimura’s lead leg. Kimura scored with a counter left as Camus clinched. Camus held Kimura up against the fence and landed short strikes. The fighters separated and Camus shot in for a takedown. He got Kimura down, but Kimura countered with a series of submissions that culminated with a triangle Kimura attempted as the bell sounded. Close round. 10-9 Camus by a slim margin.
Round 3:
Camus closed the distance right away in round three and clinched against the cage. The fighters separated, but soon clinched again. Camus fell to his back and Kimura landed on top in mount. Camus gave up his back and Kimura locked on a rear-naked choke within seconds. Camus had nowhere to go and tapped out.
Winner: Dustin Kimura by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:50 of round three. He improves to 10-0-0.
Francisco “Cisco” Rivera vs Edwin “El Feroz” Figueroa
Round 1:
Figueroa started quickly with leg kicks and a right hook. Rivera answered with a combination and the fighters exchanged hard punches. Figueroa got the better of the exchange and he dropped Rivera with a left hook seconds later. Rivera looked for a submission from the bottom and scrambled back up to his feet. Figueroa landed a combination and backed Rivera up with another left.
Rivera caught a kick and took Figueroa down. He passed to side control, but Figueora escaped to his feet. Rivera landed a leg kick and followed with a head kick. He took Figueroa down and struck from the top. Rivera stood over Figueroa and kicked at his legs until the bell. Good opening round. 10-9 Figueroa, barely.
Round 2:
Rivera landed two counter right hands early in round two, but Figueroa caught a kick and took him down. Rivera worked for a triangle choke and Figueroa used punches to escape. Figueroa continued to strike from the top until Rivera managed to work back to his feet. Rivera cracked Figueroa with a big right hand. He rocked Figueroa with a big combination against the cage and Figueroa staggered to the side. Rivera rushed in with more punches that dropped Figueroa and the bout was stopped.
Winner: Fracisco Rivera by TKO (Punches) at 4:20 of round two. He improves to 9-2-0, 1 NC.
