Nah-Shon “The Rock ‘n Rolla” Burrell vs James “Intensity” Terry
Round 1:
Terry landed a kick to the groin to open the fight, but Burrell was okay to continue. Terry scored with a right hook and clinched, then took Burrell down against the cage. Burrell managed to work back to his feet briefly, but Terry took him back down and landed in mount. Terry punched from the top, but Burrell impressively escaped to his feet again.
Terry wasted no time in clinching and dragging Burrell back down. He took Burrell’s back and looked to set up a rear-naked choke. Burrell stood up and Terry tried to take him down. Terry scored with a back elbow strike and tripped Burrell to the mat. Terry landed short punches, but Burrell stood before the round ended. 10-9 Terry.
Round 2:
An exchange of power punches opened round two and Terry used a right hook to close in for a clinch. He took Burrell down against the cage, but was unable to do much on the ground and Burrell battled back to his feet. Burrell landed a nice leg kick and a right hook. Terry answered back with a right of his own.
Terry closed in and clinched against the cage. Burrell backed him up with a knee and a left hand. Terry missed with a looping right and tried unsuccessfully to take Burrell down. He tripped Burrell on his second try and landed a right hand. Burrell stood and scored with two uppercuts. Close round. 10-9 Terry.
Round 3:
Burrell was more active with punches in the final round and he forced Terry to circle away on two occasions with lead left hooks. More punches scored for Burrell and Terry remained on the defensive. Terry tried to clinch and ate a knee. Two more left hooks connected for Burrell and he followed with an overhand right and an uppercut.
Burrell then switched to knees and targeted both the head and body. He threw a head kick and Terry blocked it. Terry struggled to land anything and Burrell drilled him with a big right hand. A vicious uppercut sent Terry backpedalling and Burrell continued to dominate the striking exchanges. Terry took him down in the final seconds. 10-9 Burrell.
Winner: Nah-Shon Burrell by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 8-1-0.
Gian Villante vs Trevor “Hot Sauce” Smith
Round 1:
Villante reversed a takedown right away to open the fight and landed a knee as Smith stood. Smith broke free of the clinch and landed a body kick. Villante caught one and landed a right hand. He tripped Smith to the mat and scored with hammerfists. Smith tried to latch onto a leg, but became pinned down as Villante landed more hammerfists and referee Kim Winslow stopped the fight, perhaps prematurely.
Winner: Gian Villante by TKO (Punches) at 1:05 of round one. He improves to 9-3-0.
Ricky “IE Bad Boy” Legere Jr. vs Chris “The Kiss” Spang
Round 1:
Legere picked Spang up and slammed him down early in the fight, then moved him up to the cage. Spang postured for an armbar, but Legere defended and punched to the body. Legere landed short elbows, then postured up with punches and managed to pass to side control. Spang regained half-guard and then full guard, but Legere kept busy with short strikes until late in the round. Spang stood and landed a head kick. He pulled guard with a guillotine choke, but time expired. 10-9 Legere.
Round 2:
Spang landed punches and a knee in round two, but Legere countered with a takedown and struck from the top. Spang tried to tie him up, but Legere managed to free his arms and landed short punches. Legere scored with an elbow and tried to pass to side control. Spang kept him in guard and the fighters were stood up. Spang flurried with punches and defended against a takedown. Legere slammed him down and worked from half-guard. 10-9 Legere.
Round 3:
Spang landed right hooks and body kicks in the final round and stuffed Legere’s attempts to clinch for takedowns. Legere landed a one-two and finally managed to get Spang down. He struck from the top until the fighters were stood up. Spang landed punches, but Legere took him back down. Spang scrambled up and stuffed a takedown. He took Legere’s back and secured a partial rear-naked choke. Legere escaped into mount and punched until the bell. Close round. 10-9 Legere.
Winner: Ricky Legere Jr. by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 14-4-0.
Estevan “El Terrible” Payan vs Alonzo “Zo Diddy” Martinez
Round 1:
Right hooks were exchanged right away and Martinez landed a knee. Payan fired back with an uppercut and a right cross and the pace remained high as the fighters traded powerful strikes. Martinez landed a jumping switch kick to the body. More punches were exchanged and Martinez continued to target the body by landing a left hook. He looked to clinch for a takedown, but Payan shrugged him off.
Payan scored with a three-punch combo punctuated by a left hook that backed Martinez up. Payan landed more punches in close, but Martinez answered with a knee and a left hook. Payan circled out and connected with a left hook. He followed with a leg kick and stuffed a takedown with hammerfists. Payan pressed Martinez up against the cage briefly and landed punches and leg kicks before the bell. 10-9 Payan.
Round 2:
Payan jabbed and avoided Martinez’s right hooks in round two. Payan kept the pressure on with kicks and a hard right hand. The fighters traded punches and Payan got the better of it with a flurry in close. He landed a head kick as Martinez tried for a takedown. Payan stayed on his feet and landed more quick punches.
A one-two and a body kick scored for Payan as Martinez slowed down. Payan clinched and sprawled out of a takedown. Martinez managed to land a right hand, but ate a powerful uppercut counter that immediately caused his right eye to swell badly. Payan landed two more right hooks before the end of the round. 10-9 Payan.
Round 3:
Power punches were exchanged again early in the final round. Payan continued to find success with his right uppercut and he backed Martinez up with two of them. Payan used jabs to set up a nice three-punch combination to the head and body. Payan just missed with a head kick, but landed a kick to Martinez’s lead leg after Martinez switched stances.
Another uppercut scored for Payan and he easily shrugged off a takedown attempt. Both fighters landed body kicks and Payan bloodied Martinez’s nose with jabs. Payan switched targets and landed an uppercut to the body, then a right cross seconds later. He jabbed and sprawled out of a Martinez takedown attempt as the round ended. 10-9 Payan.
Winner: Estevan Payan by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. He improves to 13-3-0, 1 NC.
