Visa issues have forced Canadian Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet out of her bout against Ediane “India” Gomes at Invicta Fighting Championships 6. Tamikka “Boom Boom” Brents has now stepped in to face Gomes on the card, which takes place on Saturday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
MMARising.com confirmed the late change with the promotion this evening. Gomes was originally set to face Julia “The Jewel” Budd on Saturday and now receives her second replacement opponent. Brents steps in on three days’ notice and looks for her second victory under the Invicta FC banner.

Five fights have been officially announced for the inaugural Deep Jewels event on August 31st in Tokyo, Japan. The all-female Deep Jewels 1 card features a 48kg featherweight title eliminator bout between Celine Haga, a winner of four straight fights, and fellow prospect Sadae “Manhoef” Numata.
In addition to today’s fight announcements, Deep Jewels also revealed its new management team and a revised set of rules. Unlike its predecessor, Jewels, which often restricted ground strikes, the Deep Jewels faction will permit ground and pound in all fights. Elbow strikes will remain outlawed.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Ana Maria “India” earned her third straight victory tonight in a featured matchup at Web Fight Combat 2 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The highly-skilled grappler submitted veteran striker Maria Elisabete “Beth” Tavares with her signature armbar late in the opening round.
Maria returned to MMA in May after a three-year hiatus from competition and she has quickly regained her standing as one of Brazil’s top female fighters. After a tentative start to tonight’s bout, Maria took Tavares down to the mat and used a slick transition to set up the fight-ending submission.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight for UFC 162: “Silva vs Weidman.” The event was headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship bout between champ Anderson “The Spider” Silva and “All-American” Chris Weidman.

SCS Women’s Atomweight Champion Jinh Yu will make the first defence of her new title against Colorado-based prospect Darla “Train Wreck” Harris at Sugar Creek Showdown 18: “Declaration of Pain.” The event is set to take place on July 27th at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, Oklahoma.
Yu made a successful pro debut in early April when she submitted Meghan Wright to become the first SCS 105-pound women’s champion. The SCS 18 card features a second women’s title fight as Tamikka “Boom Boom” Brents and Amanda Miller vie for the vacant featherweight championship.

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and fellow TUF 18 coach Miesha “Cupcake” Tate will face off for a second time at UFC 168 on December 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The title fight was officially announced today and MMAjunkie.com first reported on the event details.
Rousey submitted Tate for the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title in March 2012 and won her UFC debut in February. She had expected to face “Alpha” Cat Zingano later this year, but Zingano sustained a knee injury and Tate stepped in as a coach on TUF 18 and also as Rousey’s next opponent.

At UFC 161, former UFC light heavyweight champ “Suga” Rashad Evans eked out a razor-thin Split Decision win over Dan “Hendo” Henderson to re-enter the top three at 205 pounds. In women’s action, Poland’s Joanna JÄ™drzejczyk cracked the flyweight top ten by defeating Julia Berezikova.
