Mizuki Inoue, Mio Tsumura Advance In Shoot Boxing TournamentsJapan’s Shoot Boxing organisation began two new tournaments on Friday night at Shoot Boxing 2012: “Road To S-Cup, Act.2” in Tokyo. 17-year-old prospect Mizuki Inoue advanced to the finals of the “2012 Girls S-Cup 53.5” tournament by stopping Mina in the first of two semi-final matchups.

In the inaugural “JKS48” grand prix for high-school students, Mio Tsumura improved her shoot boxing record to 5-0 by defeating Yuuki Kira. Tsumura, who celebrated her 17th birthday on Saturday, advances alongside Naoko Otsuka to the tournament semi-final round, which takes place in August.

Felice Herrig Defeats Patricia Vidonic At XFC 17: "Apocalypse"Talented kickboxer Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig put her improving wrestling skills to good use tonight in a featured women’s bout at Xtreme Fighting Championships 17: “Apocalypse” in Jackson, Tennessee. Herrig earned a clear-cut Unanimous Decision victory over “Little” Patricia Vidonic.

With takedowns in all three rounds, Herrig was able to keep her opponent pinned down on the mat for prolonged stretches and she was effective with short strikes from the top. Vidonic pulled off an impressive sweep in round one, but Herrig controlled the remainder of the bout to take the decision.

Two More Bouts Announced For Jewels: "19th Ring" In OsakaTop Jewels star Mika “Future Princess” Nagano will look to get back on the winning track when she returns to action on May 26th. Nagano is set to face off with journeywoman Anna Saito at Jewels: “19th Ring” in Osaka, Japan. The 53kg bout was officially announced by the promotion earlier today.

Also added to the card today was a 48kg featherweight matchup between Sachiko “Sachi” Yamamoto and Sadae “Manhoef” Suzumura. Yamamoto is coming off of a big win over former Valkyrie champ Yasuko “Ikuko” Tamada at “17th Ring.” Suzumura earned a first-round stoppage win in September.

Lena Ovchynnikova vs Joanne Calderwood Planned For SFL 3Ukrainian prospect Lena “Hunter” Ovchynnikova looks to rebound from her first professional setback when she faces Scotland’s Joanne Calderwood at Super Fight League 3 on May 6th in New Delhi, India. The featured bout was officially announced earlier today and will be contested at 125 pounds.

Ovchynnikova brought an unblemished record into her SFL debut at the promotion’s inaugural event in March, but succumbed to a second-round rear-naked choke from Serbia’s Sanja Sučević. Calderwood earned a quick TKO victory in February in Scotland’s first professional female MMA bout.

Julianna Peña Faces Sarah Moras At Conquest Of The Cage 11Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña returns to action in her home state of Washington later this month in the main event of Conquest of the Cage 11. The unbeaten 22-year-old faces off against Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras on the April 19th card in Airway Heights. The bout was announced today.

Peña was originally in talks to face Brazilian prospect Claudia Gadelha for Freedom Fight on April 21st, but that event was scrapped this week. Peña will likely battle Gadelha at an event to be determined later this year, but must first get past Moras, who has won both of her MMA bouts to date.
