A second women’s bout has been announced for the March 11th Pancrase Progress Tour 3 card in Tokyo. 16-year-old grappler Shino VanHoose looks for her third mixed martial arts victory when she faces off against former Valkyrie competitor Kimie “Sakura” Okada in a strawweight matchup.
Pancrase officials confirmed the addition to the card earlier today. The event also features the retirement bout of kickboxing and MMA veteran “Windy” Tomomi Sunaba, who faces Jewels star Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka. Sunaba, a mixed martial artist since 2002, has won five of her past six.

Teen prodigy Mizuki Inoue scored the biggest victory of her combat sports career tonight at Shoot Boxing 2012: “Road To S-Cup, Act.1” in Tokyo, Japan. The 17-year-old striker upset current Shoot Boxing Japan Women’s Flyweight Champion Ai Takahashi in a non-title bout on the card.
Inoue has maintained a very active schedule competing in shoot boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts over the past 18 months. She used her superior boxing skills to wear Takahashi down through three close rounds and won the fight on all three judges’ scorecards after an extension round.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight for UFC 143: “Diaz vs Condit.” The event was headlined by a UFC Interim Welterweight Championship bout between Nick Diaz and “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit.
Also on the card, Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum returned to the Octagon to face fellow heavyweight contender Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Elsewhere, former welterweight title challenger Josh Koscheck squared off with Mike Pierce. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for tonight’s card.

Japan’s all-female Jewels promotion has announced the first of many bouts for its March 3rd “18th Ring” card in Tokyo. Promotional postergirl Mika “Future Princess” Nagano looks to rebound from a contentious decision loss when she faces former Valkyrie mainstay Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino.
Nagano has made 12 appearances for Jewels since its debut in late 2008 and she remains one of the organisation’s top stars, but managed just one win in three bouts this past year. Fujino has won two of her past three fights and most recently defeated Celine Haga at “17th Ring” in December.

Strikeforce veteran Elaina “Beef” Maxwell and long-time pound-for-pound standout Tara LaRosa will both be in action in a pair of featured women’s matchups at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 2: “Yvel vs Alexander” on March 30th in Kearney, Nebraska. Both fighters await confirmed opponents.
MMARising.com confirmed the latest update with the promotion today. Maxwell has won four of her past five fights and holds a notable victory over Raging Wolf champion and current Strikeforce contender Alexis Davis. The veteran LaRosa has tasted defeat only once in nearly eight years.

Russia’s Yana “Foxy” Kunitskaya will make a quick return to action when she faces Anna Melikhova at Lion’s Fights 1: “The Beginning” on March 3rd in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The women’s bout, along with the remainder of the promotion’s inaugural fight card, was first reported on Mixfight.ru.
Kunitskaya is already scheduled to compete three weeks earlier in a bout with Ekaterina Saraykina at Verdict Fighting Championship 1 in Moscow. The 22-year-old has won three straight fights by first-round TKO. Melikhova makes her MMA debut in the fight after capturing titles in Muay Thai.

Two of the UFC’s top welterweight contenders will square off this Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada when former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz battles former WEC titleholder Carlos Condit. Diaz and Condit meet in the main event of UFC 143 for the UFC Interim Welterweight Championship.

A battle of heavyweight strikers has been added to the upcoming UFC on FOX 3 card on May 5th in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Former K-1 star Pat “HD” Barry will face recent UFC signee Lavar “Big” Johnson, who won his Octagon debut with an impressive knockout this past weekend.
The heavyweight bout joins a previously announced lightweight tilt between Jim Miller and Nate Diaz on the card. The Miller-Diaz fight has now been confirmed as the night’s main event and will be contested over five rounds. Barry and Johnson will square off on the FOX-televised portion of the card.
