Weekend Recap: Elaina Maxwell, Sally Krumdiack VictoriousTalented kickboxer Elaina “Beef” Maxwell picked up her second consecutive victory on Saturday night with a third-round stoppage of Angela Samaro at King of the Cage: “Shockwave” in Oroville, California. Maxwell managed to avoid Samaro’s submissions and finished the fight with a barrage of elbows.

In other action, “Slick” Sally Krumdiack successfully defended her Freestyle Cage Fighting 125-pound women’s title at FCF 48 in Shawnee, Oklahoma with a second-round armbar submission of Sarah Ward-Maloy. The bout was Krumdiack’s first since falling to UK standout Rosi Sexton in November.

"Windy" Tomomi Sunaba, Yukiko Seki Earn Wins At Pancrase Impressive Tour 6Standout striker “Windy” Tomomi Sunaba and Jewels veteran Yukiko Seki both picked up dominant decision victories in a pair of women’s bouts on Saturday night at Pancrase Impressive Tour 6 in Tokyo, Japan. Sunaba dispatched of Sadae “Manhoef” Suzumura in the night’s co-main event.

Earlier in the evening, Seki outlasted the still-winless Kimie “Sakura” Okada through two rounds to take a well-earned decision. After a disastrous 2006 to 2009 campaign, Seki has now won four of her last five fights, with the lone defeat during that time coming by way of a contentious Split Decision.

Two More Fights Announced For UFC 135 In SeptemberTwo more fights have been added to the UFC 135 card on September 24th in Denver, Colorado. The lighter weight classes will be on display when Diego “The Gun” Nunes faces Manny “The Anvil” Gamburyan at 145, and Cole “The Triangle” Escovedo takes on Takeya Mizugaki at 135 pounds.

Both fights were announced by the promotion today. All four fighters will be looking to rebound from recent setbacks. Nunes looked to be one win away from a UFC Featherweight Championship bout before falling to current top contender Kenny “KenFlo” Florian in a UFC 131 battle last month.

Carina Damm Victorious At Iron Man Championship 10Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm picked up another quick submission win in Brazil on Thursday night, as she defeated late replacement opponent Sheila “Amazon” at Iron Man Championship 10. Damm had been set to face Valentina Shevchenko, but her opponent was changed earlier this week.

As a veteran of 23 professional mixed martial arts fights, Damm has drawn criticism for continuing to face inexperienced and overmatched opponents in bouts in her native Brazil. Four of her last six opponents in the country have been MMA debutants, including in last night’s brief bout in Salinopolis.

Amanda Lucas Faces Hikaru Shinohara At DEEP: 55 ImpactAmanda “Powerhouse” Lucas will travel to Japan for her next mixed martial arts bout and she now has an opponent. The adopted daughter of Star Wars creator George Lucas faces Japanese veteran Hikaru Shinohara at DEEP: “55 Impact” on August 26th in Tokyo, Japan, in a bout announced today.

The 30-year-old Lucas has already received considerable attention from major sports media in Japan after her participation on the August card was first announced. She has not competed since late 2009, but her opponent may also experience ring rust as she returns after nearly three years away.

Urijah Faber vs Brian Bowles Added To UFC 139 CardFormer WEC champions Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles have agreed to face off at UFC 139, which is believed to be targeted for November 19th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The UFC announced plans for the bout today. Faber is coming off of a decision loss to Dominick Cruz at UFC 132.

Despite lingering hand issues, Bowles brings momentum into the bout with Faber and has won two straight fights since losing his WEC title to Cruz last March. Faber had looked to capture Cruz’s new UFC title in their rematch earlier this month, but he was unable to defeat Cruz for a second time.

Dominick Cruz To Face Demetrious Johnson At UFC Live 6UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz will make the next defence of his title on free television. Cruz will face Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at UFC Live 6, which is set for October 1st at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. NBC Sports first reported on the bout today.

Cruz is coming off of a close but Unanimous Decision victory over former WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber at UFC 132. With the win, he avenged the lone defeat of his career. Johnson recently earned a razor-thin and contentious Unanimous Decision over Miguel Torres at UFC 130.
