Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion Marloes “Rumina” Coenen will no longer compete on today’s Glory 12 card in Amsterdam. Coenen was set to face Lena Buytendijk just one week after capturing the Strikeforce title, but it was announced during the event that the fight had been cancelled.
Coenen submitted the previously unbeaten Sarah Kaufman with a third-round armbar at Strikeforce: “Diaz vs Noons 2” last Saturday and had planned to fight again today, but she will instead watch from the sidelines. Many of her Golden Glory teammates will still compete on the Glory 12 card.
Despite a change in opponent, pound-for-pound standout Tara LaRosa will return to action on November 24th for the new DaMMAge Fight League in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She will face former Strikeforce title challenger and final Smackgirl Middleweight Champion Takayo Hashi at 125 pounds.
LaRosa had initially been tentatively booked to face Irish prospect Aisling “Ais The Bash” Daly, but that fight was scrapped when approval could not be received from Bellator Fighting Championships. Instead, LaRosa will face Hashi, who challenged Sarah Kaufman for Strikeforce gold in February.
