Long-time contender Miesha “Cupcake” Tate made her dream of becoming a UFC champion a reality on March 5th at UFC 196: “McGregor vs Diaz” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tate choked out Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Also at UFC 196, Amanda “Lioness” Nunes moved up in the bantamweight rankings by defeating Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko. At Invicta FC 16, Ayaka Hamasaki retained her atomweight title, while Jennifer Maia defeated Vanessa Porto to become the Invicta FC Interim Flyweight Champion.
